About Brave
Brave is building the independent search infrastructure for the AI era. While others wrap Bing or Google APIs, we own our own global web index. This allows us to offer what Big Tech cannot: Zero-Data-Retention (ZDR) guarantees, unbiased ranking, and total sovereignty.
Our Search API is currently powering the next generation of LLMs, RAG pipelines, and agentic frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, etc.). We are looking for a technical Solutions Engineer to support our API and developer platform.
You will bridge the gap between our engineering team and the developer market, demonstrating how to build with the Brave Search API.
Role Overview
This is a technical sales role for Brave Search API.
We need someone who can work directly with prospective customers and help them understand whether Brave Search API is the right fit for what they are building. That means running demos, answering technical questions, helping with early integrations, building small proof-of-concepts, and giving Product and Engineering clear feedback on what customers are asking for.
The work combines solutions engineering with developer-facing content and example code to help builders get started quickly.
Key Responsibilities
- Support technical sales conversations: Join customer and partner calls, lead technical discovery, answer product questions, and explain how Brave Search API fits into diverse products and AI workflows.
- Run demos and build proof-of-concepts: Create demos, small apps, notebooks, and code examples showcasing Brave Search API across search, RAG, LLM applications, and agentic workflows.
- Help customers get started: Work hands-on with prospects and customers moving from their first API call to production integration, diagnosing and removing technical roadblocks.
- Improve sales and onboarding materials: Create and maintain technical guides, demo scripts, sample code, integration notes, FAQs, and competitive comparisons.
- Partner with Product and Engineering: Synthesize and deliver clear customer feedback, including feature requests, documentation gaps, common implementation issues, pricing questions, and competitive insights.
- Improve developer experience: Optimize documentation, code examples, API onboarding flows, and setup processes.
- Support framework integrations: Ensure Brave Search API integrates smoothly into modern AI developer tools such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, and the Vercel AI SDK.
- Support launches: Collaborate with Product Marketing to deliver technical launch components including demos, documentation, and clear changelogs.
Requirements
- Technical sales experience: Background working with prospects, customers, partners, or technical buyers, understanding project architectures, and qualifying product fit.
- Hands-on technical ability: Proficiency reading and writing basic Python or JavaScript, interacting with APIs using cURL or Postman, and building simple integrations autonomously.
- AI and search knowledge: Understanding of RAG architectures, LLMs, autonomous agents, context windows, search APIs, and the nuances between lexical and semantic search.
- Developer empathy: Strong awareness of API usability, error handling, rate limiting, and onboarding velocity.
- Clear communication: Ability to explain complex technical concepts in plain language across docs, customer notes, and demo walkthroughs.
- Cross-functional follow-through: Proven ability to translate customer signals into actionable product and engineering requirements.
Bonus Points
- Experience in sales engineering, solutions engineering, developer platforms, search infrastructure, AI tooling, or data products.
- Prior experience at or collaborating with developer-focused platforms (e.g., Vercel, Supabase, Stripe, HashiCorp, LangChain).
- Existing engagement within the AI builder ecosystem.
- Experience navigating enterprise customer journeys from technical evaluation to production deployment.
What We Offer
- Opportunity to drive developer growth for an independent search and AI platform.
- Remote flexibility with a collaborative, results-oriented culture.
- Competitive salary, benefits, and professional development opportunities.
- Base compensation range for United States candidates: $150,000 – $200,000 DOE.
