IT Lead - ClassDojo

ClassDojo's goal is to give every child on Earth an education they love. ClassDojo’s flagship app connects K-12 teachers, children, and families globally, actively used in over 95% of US schools and reaching over 45 million children in 180 countries.

As IT Lead, you are ClassDojo's IT function: owner and operator reporting directly to the CTO. You will cover identity, devices, SaaS, security operations, vendors, and AI platforms for approximately 350 people. The function runs on automation and AI-assisted triage rather than manual effort. You inherit a documented handover to keep efficient, optimize, and make legible across the organization.

What You’ll Do

• Own identity and the employee lifecycle: Okta, Google Workspace, and an HRIS-driven pipeline where access changes trigger automatically with system-produced audit trails.
• Own a Mac-first MDM fleet at near-100% coverage, passwordless authentication at 100%, and assist response on security incidents.
• Run and own IT operations end-to-end: onboarding, offboarding, support, and the AI triage and self-service that manage incoming tickets, treating repeat requests as defects to eliminate.
• Govern a 50+ tool SaaS stack, IT vendor relations, and the IT budget.
• Administer governance for Claude and ChatGPT enterprise accounts, leveraging AI and automation to eliminate manual workflows.
• Maintain IT-owned SOC 2 controls and ensure continuous audit readiness with automated evidence collection.

Qualifications

• Experience owning and operating IT independently for an organization of 200+ staff, including identity in Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, and automated HRIS-driven lifecycles.
• Hands-on ownership of a production Mac fleet under MDM, including experience with migrations or baseline rebuilds.
• Direct administration of enterprise AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude), daily personal use, and a track record of building automations replacing manual IT work.
• Default-to-automation mindset: scripting, APIs, logs, admin consoles, and the ability to automate entire request categories.
• Practical security judgment with experience working inside a SOC 2 compliant environment.
• Strong direct support mindset with clear tracking of operational metrics.
• Ability to write clear, actionable documentation and concisely communicate technical decisions to leadership.
• High ownership mentality without requiring rigid requirements or handoffs.
• Based in the US (East or West Coast) with the ability to travel occasionally to San Francisco.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with AWS IAM Identity Center and Terraform (or config-as-code applied to Okta and Google).
• Familiarity with office buildouts, BYOD policy rollouts, international contractor workflows, Windows, and ChromeOS.
