Opportunity
Deepgram is looking for an Engineering Manager to help drive our product-led growth (PLG) strategy. In this role, you will lead a team of frontend and backend engineers working on our self-serve products, such as Console and Product Playground. Partnering closely with Product, Sales, and Marketing, you will execute the next-generation vision for our self-service platform, driving how developers discover, adopt, and scale on Deepgram.
What You'll Do
- Lead a team of multi-disciplined software engineers building web applications, agentic tooling integrations (MCP servers, SDK experiences), and account management services (authorization, billing, analytics).
- Partner with leadership and product management on product strategy and roadmap refinement focused on AI-native developer experience.
- Oversee technical design, task decomposition, and execution cadences.
- Guide the creation of features and releases, including AI agent playground environments and LLM-powered developer tooling.
- Drive the self-serve growth engine: activation funnels, in-product upgrade flows, and PLG experimentation.
- Collaborate across product teams to identify critical paths and resolve cross-functional dependencies.
- Conduct regular 1-on-1s, guide direct reports through challenges, and coach them for career growth.
Qualifications
- Strong technical background building world-class user-facing applications.
- Proven engineering management and leadership experience with a track record of mentoring team members.
- Practical experience with software architecture and scaling application infrastructure.
- Experience in early-stage or high-growth startups, navigating real-world constraints to build quickly and iterate frequently.
- Strong communication skills and comfort working in a fast-paced environment.
- Mindset treating LLMs, agents, and model APIs as first-class product primitives.
- Familiarity with or interest in relevant technologies (Rust, LLM APIs, MCP/agent tooling, Elm, Postgres, GPUs).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building AI-powered developer tooling (playgrounds, SDK experiences, interactive docs, eval UIs).
- Experience shipping agentic or voice AI integrations (MCP servers, function-calling pipelines, voice assistant SDKs).
- Experience driving PLG at a developer-tools company (activation experiments, usage-based pricing instrumentation, upgrade flows).
- Experience managing teams through fundraising or rapid scaling cycles.
