Principal Product Manager, Sandboxes - Docker

About Docker

Docker has been one of the most loved brands in developer tooling, trusted by more than 20 million monthly users and over 20 billion container image pulls. From solo founders to the world's largest companies, developers rely on Docker to build, share, and run their applications across our suite of products including Docker Desktop, Docker Hub, and Docker Scout.

We are a globally distributed, remote-first team building the tools that define how software gets built and delivered. As AI agents redefine software development, Docker is at the center of that shift, providing the sandboxed environments, verified images, and secure infrastructure that make autonomous workflows trustworthy by default.

The Products Team at Docker is looking for a Principal Product Manager to lead components of Docker Sandboxes. You will own and drive this strategic product area from high-level concept design through delivery, adoption, and operation. You will help shape how developers and AI agents use fast, secure, isolated environments across local and cloud workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Own Docker Sandboxes, its long-term vision, roadmap, revenue, adoption, and results.
  • Articulate customer workflows, pain points, and constraints regarding security, performance, compatibility, and cost.
  • Engage deeply with developers building AI agents, coding environments, CI and testing systems, and other workloads requiring secure, isolated execution.
  • Turn complex tradeoffs across isolation, startup time, performance, density, networking, storage, and cost into simple product experiences.
  • Guide product definition, feature prioritization, and scope in concert with engineering, design, security, operations, and go-to-market teams.
  • Drive iterative development through hypothesis testing, measuring adoption, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Deep empathy for the needs of developers and a user-obsessed mindset.
  • Prior professional experience as a software engineer, ideally in systems, infrastructure, platform engineering, developer tools, or cloud.
  • Strong technical familiarity with sandboxes/microVMs, containers, virtualization technologies, and hypervisors.
  • Understanding of modern developer infrastructure including Linux, container runtimes, orchestration, networking, storage, APIs, and cloud services.
  • Experience designing, building, or operating systems that execute customer-provided, untrusted, or agent-generated code at scale.
  • Comfort interacting with command-line interfaces and discussing technical architecture with engineers.
  • Experience building B2B, SaaS, public cloud, or developer infrastructure products.
  • Knowledge of software supply chain and security concerns, multi-tenant isolation, identity, secrets management, observability, and reliability.
  • Ability to break down complex technical problems into small, user-valuable features.
  • Strong communication skills across written, verbal, and visual formats.
  • Analytical approach using qualitative and quantitative data to drive decisions.
