Software Engineer II - Builder Experience - Platform Engineering Productivity

Elastic, the Search AI Company, enables organizations to find real-time answers across all data at scale. We are seeking a curious mid-level Software Engineer who embraces AI to join our Platform Engineering Productivity team.

In this role, you will improve developer workflows across Elastic, maintain reliable CI infrastructure, and build tools and frameworks that enable engineering teams to develop, ship, and operate software effectively at scale.

What You Will Be Doing

• Ensure CI infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and efficient.
• Manage systems and processes for building releasable artifacts.
• Create and maintain ephemeral developer environments.
• Define and enforce release gates based on key quality criteria.
• Build tools and infrastructure supporting product deployment and release workflows.
• Improve the overall developer experience across build, test, package, and release stages.
• Partner with engineering teams across Elastic to solve developer productivity and release engineering challenges.

What You Bring

• Solid experience in one or more programming languages such as Python, Go, Bash, Java, or Scala.
• Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, including building, packaging, testing, and releasing software.
• Proficiency in cloud and infrastructure technologies including Terraform, Kubernetes, and Docker, alongside cloud platforms and configuration management tools.
• Strong proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems, especially Git.
• Experience contributing to release engineering and quality strategies.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted developer tools to accelerate workflows and troubleshoot systems.
• Ability to operate autonomously in a distributed team utilizing transparent, asynchronous communication.
• Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
• Eligibility to work in Department of Defense (DoD) Impact Level 4 or above cloud service environments.
