
About the Role
Elastic's Streams program is the unified platform for getting data into Elasticsearch from edge collection through cloud processing. As the Tech Lead for the Agent Framework team, you will own the architecture, set the technical direction, and serve as the primary decision-maker for how Elastic's agent layer evolves to support the Streams model.
What You Will Be Doing
- Architectural Leadership: Design a scalable agent layer, evaluate new technologies to boost performance, and lead architectural discussions.
- Mentorship: Provide technical guidance, conduct code reviews, and foster a culture of continuous learning and engineering excellence.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with product management and stakeholders to gather requirements and prioritize features.
- Project Management: Facilitate cross-team collaboration, identify risks, and adjust project plans to ensure alignment with business priorities.
What You Bring
- Proven experience as a technical lead or principal engineer on agent, daemon, or systems-level software at scale.
- Deep knowledge of observability data collection (metrics, logs, traces) and protocols (OTLP, Prometheus Remote Write, syslog).
- Solid background in Go.
- Experience designing management and control planes for distributed software (e.g., OpAMP).
- Track record of leading large, multi-team technical initiatives from design to production.
- Excellent written communication skills, with a history of producing high-quality design docs and ADRs.
Bonus Points
- Experience with Elastic Agent, Fleet, Beats, or OpenTelemetry collector internals.
- Knowledge of pipeline execution models (Streamlang, Logstash, Fluent, etc.).
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation) in agent deployment contexts.
- Contributions to open-source observability projects.
- Experience working async-first in a globally distributed team.
