About GameChanger
We believe in the life-changing impact youth sports have on and off the field because they encourage leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and confidence—important life lessons that have the power to propel our youth toward meaningful futures. We recognize that without coaches, parents, and volunteers, organized youth sports could not exist. By building the first and best place to experience the youth sports moments important to our community, we are helping families elevate the next generation through youth sports.
We are a remote-first, dynamic tech company based in New York City solving some of the biggest challenges in youth sports today.
The Position
At GameChanger, we score and stream millions of youth sports games annually. We are seeking a talented Senior Engineering Manager who is passionate about live-streaming to manage our video enablement team. This full-stack, empowered team is dedicated to all things core video experience—owning our video pipeline end to end with our video platform team, evolving our live streaming and post-game video capabilities for users, simplifying the developer experience for product teams integrating video, and ensuring scalable and resilient architecture across apps and APIs.
As Senior Engineering Manager, you will manage our enablement team and set them up for success by nurturing team culture, collaborating on the video enablement vision, influencing architecture principles, mentoring future leaders, and overseeing day-to-day team execution.
What You’ll Do
- Partner closely with the Director of Video Engineering, dedicated PMs, and cross-functional teams to shape and execute GC's video streaming roadmap.
- Lead the Video Enablement team through the design, build, and support of core video capabilities, including third-party device integrations (GoPro, Mevo, etc.), mobile-first live streaming and capture, ingest, transcode, storage, and playback.
- Continuously measure and improve live and VOD streaming experiences, bringing data and user empathy to every decision.
- Hire, onboard, and develop a high-performing team of mobile, backend, and infrastructure engineers.
- Serve as a hands-on technical leader: review code, contribute when needed, and mentor senior and staff engineers.
- Partner with infrastructure teams to maintain a resilient, scalable, and cost-efficient video pipeline in AWS.
- Enable product feature teams and computer vision teams to build on top of video infrastructure through clear interfaces and documentation.
- Stay engaged during production incidents and support the team during critical events.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong background in video and audio streaming, with hands-on experience in user-generated content and live streaming technologies.
- A collaborative leadership style focused on listening, understanding existing architecture, and influencing through ideas.
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles and cloud architecture in a resilient, scalable video infrastructure environment (AWS).
- Strategic thinking to contribute to the long-term vision of engineering.
- Comfort operating as a player-coach: staying close enough to the technical work to credibly guide and support engineers.
- Experience with video-centric languages (such as Go, Rust, or C#) and familiarity with Node/TypeScript, React, Kotlin, or Swift is a plus.
Who You Are
- A proven engineering leader who builds with their team, not just through them.
- Energized by high-stakes, high-visibility platforms supporting millions of live streams and hundreds of millions of highlight clips.
- An excellent communicator who bridges technical depth with clear stakeholder communication.
- User-obsessed and deeply invested in stream quality and playback experience.
- Committed to fostering psychological safety and blameless postmortems.
- Experienced and comfortable in a remote-first, async-by-default environment.
How We Work

- Two-week sprints with async daily standups in Slack, weekly refinement, and minimal, high-value sync meetings.
- High value placed on proactive written communication and autonomous execution.
- Blameless postmortems focused on learning and continuous improvement.
