GitLab is looking for a Senior Professional Services Engineer to partner with public sector customers and help them successfully adopt and expand GitLab across their organizations.
In this role, you will deliver hands-on technical engagements—including installation, migration, training, and advisory services—ranging from single-node Omnibus installations to enterprise reference architectures using infrastructure as code (IaC) and configuration as code (CaC). You will balance technical execution with customer communication, mentor team members, and provide field feedback to GitLab's product and engineering teams.
What You'll Do
- Customer Delivery: Execute Professional Services engagements (installations, migrations, training, advisory) to ensure projects are completed on scope and schedule.
- Architecture & Deployment: Plan and execute deployments across varied architectures using infrastructure as code and configuration as code practices.
- System Migrations: Lead complex migrations from legacy source systems to GitLab SaaS or self-managed environments with minimal operational disruption.
- Technical Leadership: Provide guidance across the GitLab feature stack, advising customers on best practices aligned with their technical constraints.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with project and engagement managers to maintain delivery quality and reduce project risks across concurrent customer engagements.
- Mentorship & Practice Growth: Assist and mentor other Professional Services Engineers, helping standardize repeatable delivery patterns.
- Product Feedback Loop: Collaborate with product and engineering teams to resolve customer blockers and improve core platform capabilities.
What You'll Bring
- Extensive hands-on experience with IaC and CaC tools, such as Terraform, Ansible, Packer, Puppet, or Chef.
- Active Security Clearance: Active Secrets or TS/SCI clearance required for supporting public sector customer environments.
- Citizenship Requirement: US Citizenship is required due to government security specifications.
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally to SCIF sites as required.
- End-to-end technical delivery capability: technical discovery, planning, implementation, documentation, and knowledge transfer.
- Ability to excel in a remote-first, largely asynchronous work environment.
