Wholly owned by the Mozilla Foundation, the company is beholden only to its mission, not shareholders.
About the Team and Role
The Mozilla Finance team is crucial for strategic resource allocation and overseeing financial operations as the company scales its mission impact. Core Services brings together essential functions like Legal, People, Data Science, IT, and Security.
We are seeking a detail-driven Senior Financial Analyst for Core Services to manage recurring planning, reporting, and analysis for this portfolio. This role involves preparing forecasts, reconciling actuals during close, maintaining headcount and vendor tracking, and producing reports for budget owners and the COO. Reporting to the Finance Manager, Core Services, you will partner with functional leaders and teams across the organization.
Success in this role requires accuracy across a broad portfolio, the ability to translate financial variances into actionable insights for non-finance audiences, and balancing competing deadlines with meticulous attention to detail. This position suits a resourceful self-starter who can manage recurring processes end-to-end and continuously improve them.
What You'll Do
- Prepare the Core Services forecast each cycle. Build and load cost center detail in Pigment, validate inputs, reconcile against prior cycles, and document movements and drivers.
- Assemble the monthly budget update. Prepare variance to plan, drivers, and open items for budget owners and the COO, ready for the Finance Manager's discussions.
- Partner with Accounting through monthly close. Tie out actuals, accruals, and forecasts, resolving coding and timing issues at the source.
- Maintain headcount tracking. Keep position-level tracking and the headcount-to-plan bridge current, coordinating with People and hiring managers on start dates and backfill assumptions.
- Track vendor and cloud spend. Monitor POs, commitments, renewals, and run-rate changes across the group. Incorporate cloud cost information from the Cloud Engineering team into Core Services and consolidated Company reporting, reviewing for anomalies.
- Apply AI and automation to recurring work. Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort in forecasting, close, and reporting cycles, improving speed and reliability. Experiment with tools and share effective solutions.
- Support Core Services teams day to day. Field data and reporting questions directly, escalating items requiring partnership discussions.
What You'll Bring

- 5+ years of work experience in business unit FP&A, corporate FP&A, strategic finance, or a comparable analytical finance role, including hands-on experience through a full budget and forecast cycle with close and variance analysis.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or another quantitative field, or equivalent experience.
Technical Skills
- Advanced spreadsheet and financial modeling skills, with a focus on formula cleanliness, auditability, and accuracy.
- Experience with enterprise planning tools (e.g., Pigment, Adaptive, Workday) and accounting systems (NetSuite preferred).
- Grounding in accounting fundamentals, including accruals and the monthly close cycle.
- Familiarity with cloud cost or FinOps concepts to interpret technical reporting and identify discrepancies.
- Interest in applying AI, automation, and systems thinking to reduce manual effort in recurring finance work.
- Ability to balance multiple competing priorities and cycle deadlines without compromising accuracy.
Communication & Collaboration
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to concisely explain variances to a non-finance audience.
- Ability to work across functions, distilling detailed information into structured summaries for leaders.
- Positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, and ability to learn quickly.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting technical or G&A functions in a shared-services finance environment, where the internal team is the customer.
- Experience building automations or AI-assisted workflows within a Finance context, or the drive and resourcefulness to learn.
- Experience with BI tools, SQL, Python, Power Query, or other data querying and programming languages.
