About the Team and Role
The Monetization Data Science team partners closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, Finance, and senior leadership to understand and grow Mozilla’s advertising business while protecting the user privacy experience that makes Firefox unique.
Mozilla’s Ads business is growing quickly, with new products, markets, and sales offerings creating significant opportunities for Data Science to shape how the business evolves. We’re looking for a Staff Data Scientist who can serve as a trusted data partner to the Ads organization—identifying key questions, building measurement and analytical approaches, and helping teams make sound decisions in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as a lead Data Science partner for Mozilla’s Ads business, collaborating across Product, Engineering, Sales, Finance, and leadership to prioritize high-impact opportunities.
- Own complex analytical problems end-to-end, from framing the business question to validating results, communicating recommendations, and driving follow-through.
- Develop measurement frameworks for new and evolving advertising products, including success metrics, experimentation, instrumentation, and reporting.
- Analyze advertising revenue and performance to identify key drivers, evaluate opportunities and trade-offs, and inform product and business decisions.
- Translate complex findings, assumptions, and uncertainty into clear recommendations for both technical partners and senior executives.
What You’ll Bring
- 8+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or applied quantitative roles, with demonstrated ownership of complex, business-critical analytical work.
- Experience with digital advertising or related monetization models, understanding how product, user, advertiser, and revenue outcomes interact.
- Strong technical foundation in Python and SQL, with experience applying statistical, experimental, forecasting, and analytical methods to real-world business problems.
- Demonstrated ability to independently frame ambiguous problems, identify what matters, and drive work from open-ended questions to clear recommendations.
- Excellent analytical judgment—balancing rigor with pragmatism, pressure-testing results, and communicating uncertainty appropriately.
- Proven ability to build trusted relationships and communicate complex findings across cross-functional audiences.
- Commitment to Mozilla's values: welcoming differences, being relationship-minded, practicing responsible participation, and having grit.
What You’ll Get
- Generous performance-based bonus plans.
- Rich medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- Generous retirement contributions with 100% immediate vesting.
- Quarterly all-company wellness days and quarterly well-being stipend.
- Country-specific holidays plus a day off for your birthday.
