Staff Site Reliability Engineer, Tools & Systems - Mozilla

About Mozilla

Mozilla Corporation is the non-profit-backed technology company behind pioneering brands like Firefox, the privacy-minded web browser used by over 225 million people globally. Mozilla Corporation is wholly owned by the non-profit 501(c) Mozilla Foundation, meaning we are accountable to our mission rather than shareholders. Alongside thousands of volunteer contributors, Mozillians design, build, and distribute open-source software that empowers individuals on the internet.

About the Role

Mozilla is seeking an experienced and versatile software engineer to support the tools and systems powering Firefox engineering. This role spans internal engineering systems, developer tooling, workflow automation, and the production infrastructure required to operate them.

While Cloud Engineering teams provide shared platforms and foundational services, product engineering teams own the applications and services running on them. In this role, you will help teams succeed by resolving complex operational challenges, establishing architectural standards and patterns, and developing tooling and automation to streamline operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, deploy, and operate software and systems supporting Firefox engineering.
  • Contribute to developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, workflow automation, and AI-assisted development tools.
  • Own complex technical challenges end-to-end across software, cloud, and operational layers to improve reliability, performance, observability, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate across technical and organizational boundaries with Firefox Engineering, Cloud Engineering, IT, and related teams.
  • Utilize telemetry, metrics, and data analysis to troubleshoot issues and inform architectural decisions.
  • Shape architecture and technical strategy by identifying recurring issues and designing scalable solutions across teams.

What You'll Bring

  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or JavaScript/TypeScript (experience with C++ or Rust is beneficial).
  • Substantial hands-on experience deploying and operating production systems in cloud environments, including infrastructure as code (such as Terraform).
  • Experience across technical domains such as CI/CD, container orchestration, networking, databases, observability, or developer tooling.
  • Proficiency in using data, telemetry, and metrics to analyze system behavior and guide decisions.
  • Familiarity with modern AI-assisted development tools, including their capabilities, constraints, and practical application.

How You Work

  • Comfortable diving into unfamiliar codebases and legacy systems to bring them into a sustainable state.
  • Eager to work across domains, take ownership of complex problems, and establish reusable patterns.
  • Able to translate effectively between application software, infrastructure, and operational domains.
  • Balance hands-on engineering execution with long-term systems thinking and architectural judgment.
  • Communicate transparently, respectfully, and enjoy mentoring others in unfamiliar technical areas.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hiring Range: €72,000 — €96,000 EUR
  • Performance-based bonus plan
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Retirement contributions with immediate 100% vesting
  • Quarterly company-wide wellness days and quarterly well-being stipend
  • Country-specific public holidays plus a birthday day off
  • One-time home office stipend
  • Annual professional development budget
  • Paid parental leave
  • Employee referral program and supplementary life, AD&D, and disability coverages
