Product Manager, Hermes Agent - Nous Research

You will own the day-to-day product direction and execution for Hermes Agent, working directly with the Co-Founder to decide what we build, in what order, and whether it works for the people using it. This is a hands-on role: you will connect product ambition to clear priorities, help engineering ship, and stay close to the community using Hermes every day.

Responsibilities

• Own the Hermes Agent roadmap, working with the Head of Product to turn product direction into a clear, prioritized plan.
• Run day-to-day product execution, from defining problems and writing specs to coordinating releases and checking whether shipped features deliver the intended result.
• Use Hermes Agent daily to understand where it succeeds, where it breaks down, and what would make people trust it with more of their work.
• Own the user journey from installation and setup to a first useful task and sustained use, identifying friction and working with Engineering and Design to remove it.
• Turn community feedback, user conversations, issues, and usage data into product decisions while distinguishing recurring needs from one-off requests.
• Define how agent capabilities become useful product experiences, including how Hermes uses tools, develops reusable skills, and works with different models.
• Partner with Engineering and Research to evaluate agent behavior and set acceptance criteria accounting for task completion, reliability, speed, and cost.
• Keep releases focused and moving by making scope decisions, resolving dependencies, and surfacing risks early.
• Define and track metrics that measure product utility, including activation, repeat use, and successful task completion.
• Maintain the roadmap and execution plan with clear owners and status, writing concise recaps of shipped features, upcoming work, risks, and required decisions.
• Collaborate with the open source community and the Hermes Enterprise team so improvements to the core agent support downstream users and organizations.

Qualifications

• Product management experience at a company, with a proven track record of taking products or substantial features from ambiguity through launch and iteration.
• Software engineering background with the ability to read code, understand system behavior, and navigate technical tradeoffs with engineers.
• Hands-on experience building or shipping AI agent products, understanding how models, tools, context, and evaluations impact user experience.
• Strong product judgment with the ability to prioritize critical problems and explain tradeoffs.
• Ability to lead as an individual contributor and drive momentum across teams without relying on reporting lines.
• Excellent written communication skills for writing clear technical specs and company-wide updates.
• Comfort balancing strategic product direction with daily execution in a fast-paced team.
• Meaningful working-hours overlap with the US team (Americas time zones).

Nice to Have

• Experience building open-source products or working closely with developer communities.
• Experience improving onboarding, activation, and retention for self-serve/adopted products.
• Experience designing evaluations for agent reliability and real-world task completion.
• Contributions to the AI ecosystem, or workflows and projects built with Hermes Agent.
