The Company
At Nylas, we specialize in making it easier for developers to add email, calendar, and contact management features into their applications. We provide APIs that streamline the integration of these functionalities, ensuring they are secure and effective. This enables better, safer, and more reliable communication within apps.
Supporting over 100,000 developers and collaborating with more than 900 companies globally, Nylas plays a pivotal role in how digital communication tools are built and utilized. Our technology spans various sectors, from healthcare to education, simplifying the complex process of app development related to communications.
About the Team
At Nylas, we are building the infrastructure that powers modern communications. Our APIs and platform help developers integrate email, calendar, scheduling, contacts, notetakers, and agent accounts into their applications without managing the complexity underneath.
The Nylas Dashboard is the control plane for that platform. As Nylas continues to evolve for an AI-native future, the Dashboard must evolve with it. We are turning it from a traditional admin surface into a fast, intuitive, intelligent product experience that helps developers ship faster and confidently operate full-stack communication workflows.
About the Role
We are looking for a Software Engineer to help build and modernize the Nylas Dashboard and the full-stack product surfaces that surround it.
This individual will be primarily responsible for the Nylas Dashboard, but the scope extends beyond frontend pages. You will work across the stack, owning user-facing surfaces, APIs, services, data models, product workflows, and internal platform patterns that make Nylas easier to use and build on.
What You’ll Do
- Build and own core Dashboard infrastructure, including application shell, navigation, layout patterns, shared components, and product surfaces.
- Design and implement full-stack product experiences across frontend, backend APIs, data models, permissions, service integrations, and deployment paths.
- Modernize the Nylas Dashboard into a fast, polished, cohesive control plane for developers and technical teams.
- Build AI-native and agent-facing experiences that help users configure products, understand errors, debug integrations, and operate Nylas effectively.
- Work across product areas including Email, Calendar, Scheduler, Notetaker, Inbound Email, Transactional Send, Domains, Logs, and Agent Accounts.
- Partner with backend and platform teams to design clean APIs and service boundaries.
- Drive performance as a product feature by profiling, measuring, and optimizing Dashboard interactions.
- Create reusable abstractions and shared patterns to help other engineering teams ship product surfaces consistently.
- Improve onboarding, activation, self-serve configuration, troubleshooting, and product discovery.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate implementation, improve quality, and explore product behavior.
- Ship incrementally and continuously using customer feedback, product intuition, and technical judgment.
What We’re Looking For
- 4+ years of experience as a software engineer building user-facing products.
- Strong full-stack engineering experience, especially with modern frontend development using React, TypeScript, and component-driven architecture.
- Experience building backend APIs, services, data models, and integrations that power production product experiences.
- A strong product mindset focused on usability, information architecture, developer experience, and performance.
- Experience building products for developers, technical users, internal platforms, or complex B2B SaaS workflows.
- Systems thinking capabilities, creating reusable abstractions, composable components, and clean APIs.
- Comfort working in ambiguous product areas with the ability to take rough problem statements and turn them into shipped software.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- A bias toward shipping, moving quickly, and iterating based on feedback.
- Experience using AI tools in your own development workflow.
Nice to Have
- Experience working on dashboards, developer portals, control planes, admin surfaces, or platform products.
- Experience with Next.js, GraphQL, REST APIs, Go, gRPC, Postgres, Redis, or cloud-native service architectures.
- Experience building observability, logging, debugging, billing, authentication, authorization, or configuration surfaces.
- Experience working on horizontal platform teams where other engineering teams build on top of your infrastructure.
- Experience building agent-powered products, AI-assisted workflows, or LLM-powered developer tools.
- Experience working with design tools such as Figma and v0.
- Contributions to open source projects, especially in the React, TypeScript, frontend infrastructure, or developer tooling ecosystem.
