Data Analyst (SQL & dbt) - Prerender

Fully remoteFull-timeMid-levelUTC+1–+2Worldwide#SQL#dbt#metabasePTO

This role is part of our Central Data & BI Team at saas.group.

About saas.group

saas.group, established in 2017, is a software-as-a-service portfolio powerhouse acquiring small SaaS companies and scaling them into industry stars. With a fully remote team of 380+ colleagues across 50+ countries, we manage over 25 software brands.

Profile Overview

We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our small Central Data & BI Team. You will look after the data warehouse, dbt models, and analysis that saas.group leadership, Finance, acquisitions, and portfolio companies rely on. Most of the work takes place in SQL and dbt rather than reporting tools.

Each portfolio company brings its own billing setup, data quirks, and analytical questions. A significant part of the role involves due diligence on potential acquisitions—taking unfamiliar data under tight deadlines and turning it into reliable figures that inform acquisition decisions.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role (no people management). We leverage AI tools for implementation, so we need an experienced data analyst who can translate ambiguous business questions into trustworthy results, challenge assumptions, and take ownership of our data platform.

First 3–6 Months Impact

  • Gain end-to-end familiarity with our data platform (ingestion, dbt transformations, core SaaS metrics) and handle incoming data requests independently.
  • Take ownership of production data issues, discerning real business shifts from ingestion or modeling anomalies.
  • Deliver model updates and validated analyses directly to portfolio leaders, Finance, and executive stakeholders.
  • Support acquisition due diligence by converting unfamiliar customer and billing data into dependable revenue figures.

Responsibilities

  • Own requests end to end: clarify business requirements, assess source data, modify logic, build models, validate results, and communicate findings.
  • Build and maintain production dbt models for billing, subscriptions, customers, recurring revenue (MRR/ARR), retention, and SaaS metrics.
  • Maintain Metabase dashboards, reusable queries, ad hoc reporting, and data reconciliations.
  • Monitor data quality and freshness, tracing discrepancies back through transformations and ingestion pipelines to source systems.
  • Maintain source integrations in Airbyte (including custom connectors) and onboard datasets from newly acquired companies.
  • Process incomplete or unfamiliar datasets during due diligence under time constraints.
  • Integrate AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, etc.) into daily development, investigation, and documentation workflows responsibly.
  • Provide an independent voice on model design, metric definitions, and analytical priorities.
  • Document metric definitions, source behaviors, system limitations, and repeatable workflows.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in hands-on data roles where SQL was your primary tool.
  • Hands-on production experience building and maintaining data models using dbt (or similar code-based workflows with version control and code reviews).
  • Proficiency reviewing code in Python or other languages to assess logic and simplicity.
  • Proven ability to trace data end-to-end from source through ingestion to business answers.
  • Clear, direct communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Daily hands-on experience using AI development tools to accelerate analysis and modeling.
  • Ability to work Central European (CET/CEST) hours for real-time team collaboration.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with SaaS subscription metrics (MRR, ARR, churn, NDR, GDR, cohorts, LTV).
  • Experience with billing engines (Stripe, Chargebee, Recurly, Paddle).
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Airbyte, and API concepts (authentication, pagination, rate limits, incremental syncs).
  • Background in acquisition due diligence or handling multiple business units with disparate source systems.

What We Offer

  • 100% Remote: Work from wherever you like.
  • High Autonomy: High-trust culture with freedom to solve problems your way.
  • Low Bureaucracy: Minimal meetings and red tape.
  • Collaborative Team: Helpful, friendly, and low-ego colleagues across a global network.
  • Flexible Time Off: Encouraged time off to rest and recharge.
