About the Role

The Security Analyst is a hands-on member of the InfoSec team within PHM’s Technology Department. This role will own significant portions of the day-to-day security operations program, including security monitoring, incident response, access governance, vulnerability management, vendor risk, audit evidence, and cloud and SaaS security.

This role is designed to add execution depth to a growing security program and reduce dependence on a single person for both strategy and operations. The analyst will have meaningful ownership and broad exposure across the security function, with the opportunity to improve how issues are prevented, investigated, documented, and resolved.

What You’ll Accomplish

  • Establish a continuous compliance evidence process where recurring control activities have clear owners and due dates, evidence is captured as work happens, and SOC 2 Type II and HITRUST i1 assessments can be supported without a last-minute evidence sprint.
  • Reduce recurring misdirection incidents by using observed patterns to improve DLP and external send controls and by partnering with owning teams to address upstream workflow causes.
  • Build reliable access governance by verifying provisioning and deprovisioning, identifying and removing dormant or excessive access on a recurring cycle, reviewing privileged access on schedule, and validating MSP handoffs rather than assuming completion.

How You’ll Spend Your Days

  • Security Monitoring and Investigation: Investigate detections and suspicious activity across CrowdStrike Falcon, Okta, Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Microsoft Purview, Zscaler, Box, KnowBe4, and related systems. Form hypotheses, work through incomplete telemetry, document findings clearly, and escalate when business or legal judgment is required.
  • Risk and Remediation: Prioritize vulnerabilities, security findings, access issues, and control gaps based on exploitability and business impact. Drive remediation with internal teams, the MSP, and vendors even when you do not directly control the work.
  • Security Operations and Governance: Maintain provisioning verification, access reviews, vendor security reviews, DLP monitoring, security ticket workflows, and recurring control activities. Help strengthen runbooks and operating processes so knowledge becomes repeatable and self-service.
  • Detection, Cloud, and Compliance: Improve detection coverage and logging across CrowdStrike NG SIEM and other platforms, support cloud security work in Azure and AKS, and maintain audit-ready evidence for SOC 2 and HITRUST. Contribute to vendor assessments, security terms, and AI policy monitoring as needed.

What You Bring to the Table

Required

  • Strong investigative reasoning: ability to work from incomplete information, form and test hypotheses, determine priorities, and make sound escalation decisions even when ideal logs are unavailable.
  • Practical risk prioritization: evaluate exploitability, business impact, exposure, and operational reality rather than relying solely on severity scores or checklists.
  • Clear written communication: produce reliable incident documentation and audit evidence, and translate technical findings into concise communication for nontechnical leaders.
  • Strong ownership and judgment: drive work across teams and external vendors, navigate roadblocks independently, and recognize when escalations belong with security leadership or Legal.

Nice to Have

  • An automation instinct and experience using tools such as Python or PowerShell to eliminate repetitive operational work.
  • Detection engineering depth, including writing and tuning queries and thinking about adversary behavior coverage.
  • Prior experience as a systems administrator or IT generalist, with practical knowledge of identity, endpoints, SaaS integrations, and cloud environments.
  • Experience with audit or GRC programs, SOC 2 evidence review, vendor security assessments, CAIQ responses, or DPA/BAA security terms.
