Tech Lead, Video Conferencing & Screen Sharing - Airtame

Most companies that do conferencing hand you one slice of it: the desktop app, the media pipeline, or the join flow. At Airtame, one team owns the whole path across the Airtame platform: Airtame 3, Airtame Go, Virtual Airtame, and the browser, desktop, and mobile apps that go with them.

We are hiring a Tech Lead to serve as a player-coach for a team of four engineers—spending roughly 60% of time hands-on with complex engineering problems and 40% growing and leading the team.

We are around 55 people, headquartered in Copenhagen, building the hardware and software that powers meeting rooms around the world. The team is small, cross-disciplinary, and reaches a global market.

Year One Outcomes

• Make joining a call one step that works: Eliminate friction when starting scheduled calls on Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, or Webex.
• Take the friction out of screen sharing: Streamline the browser onboarding experience and bring Miracast and AirPlay to default-level stability.
• Ensure cross-platform consistency: Unify experience and real-time streaming quality across Airtame 3, Virtual Airtame, browser, desktop, and mobile.
• Lead the team: Run 1:1s, set the technical bar, and support individual growth so the team operates smoothly day to day.
• Push AI-assisted development further: Lead sharper AI workflows, tooling choices, and development patterns across the group.

Who You Are

• The Player-Coach: Experienced setting technical direction, leading architecture calls, and conducting code reviews, while also passionate about people management, 1:1s, and hiring (60/40 split).
• Stack & Real-Time Media Expertise: Deeply familiar with WebRTC, video streaming, native protocols (Miracast, AirPlay), and audio/video behavior over variable networks across browser, desktop, and mobile surfaces.
• Integrations Specialist: Proven track record making software work seamlessly with external platforms (Teams, Zoom, Meet, Webex) and native OS media APIs.
• Customer-Focused: Driven by creating frictionless user experiences (e.g., getting a new user sharing their screen on the first try without assistance).
• AI Advocate: Actively using AI for coding, debugging, and prototyping, with a practical view on where it adds speed and value.

Logistics & Compensation

• Location: Remote within Europe or hybrid from our Copenhagen office.
• Employment Type: Full-time preferred; open to project-based contract for native protocol implementations.
