Job Description
Amplify is seeking a full-time Lead Professional Learning Specialist, Literacy with backgrounds in teaching, coaching, and/or school leadership to join our Professional Development team and make a nationwide impact on educators and students.
Lead Professional Learning Specialists (Lead PLS) facilitate high-quality professional learning for teachers and school leaders, ensuring they feel confident implementing Amplify literacy programs to drive student success. In addition, Lead PLS coach and support a cohort of approximately 20 Professional Learning Specialists (PLS), ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery across engagements.
Essential Responsibilities
Professional Development Delivery
- Develop deep expertise in Amplify Literacy programs and associated professional development offerings.
- Deliver remote and onsite professional development approximately two days per week to groups of 30–40 educators.
- Adapt facilitation to meet the unique needs and contexts of customers.
- Track and complete all session logistics and deliverables in a timely manner.
Professional Growth & Certification
- Participate in paid certification training to become a certified Professional Learning Specialist (if not already certified).
- Engage in ongoing professional development, including observation, feedback, and coaching, to continuously improve facilitation practice.
Coaching & Team Leadership
- Coach a cohort of ~20 PLS through observation and debrief cycles, modeling, peer practice, and both written and live feedback.
- Design and implement targeted development plans based on observations, customer feedback, survey data, and reflection.
- Support recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of new PLS throughout the year.
- Regularly review post-session survey data (daily during peak season: May–September) to identify trends and provide actionable feedback to PLS.
- Communicate key insights regarding individual and cohort performance, needs, and challenges to relevant stakeholders.
- Share observations of customer engagement with Amplify products, including strengths and areas for improvement, with product teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience teaching Pre-K–Grade 12.
- 2+ years of experience coaching educators in Pre-K–Grade 12 settings.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and experience applying them in professional development contexts.
- Deep knowledge of instructional best practices in literacy aligned to rigorous grade-level standards in English.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate onsite and virtual professional development.
- Strong proficiency with productivity tools (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and respond effectively to customer needs in real time.
- Strong time management skills across multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience coaching or training educators using an Amplify program.
- Experience working with diverse student populations (English learners, SPED, Gifted/Talented, etc.).
Travel Requirements
Travel is an essential function of this role. Travel is expected at approximately 60% or more during the summer season (May through September) and 20–40% during the school year. Travel includes overnight stays and transportation via car, plane, and/or public transportation, sometimes with limited advance notice. Travel-related expenses are reimbursed.
