Engineering Team Lead - AWeber

At AWeber, agentic development is core to how we build. Our engineers spend most of their time designing agents and agentic engineering systems, reviewing agent-generated work for quality and correctness, and coordinating that work across the codebase. As an Engineering Team Lead, you build a small team of engineers who do exactly that into a high-performing, healthy, well-functioning group, and you lead them from inside the work.

This is a player-coach role. You run 1:1s, grow careers, own hiring and reviews for your team, and own its delivery and quality bar. You also stay hands-on: designing solutions, reviewing agent output on the risky paths, and shipping the hard parts yourself. We are looking for the senior engineer other people already rely on, who leads and grows a team without losing their own hands on the keyboard. Your mission is to help a capable, curious group ship work the org can trust, move quickly without cutting corners, and consistently finish what they start.

What You'll Do

• Review agent-generated pull requests on risky paths and coach engineers on how they verified them.
• Run 1:1s that turn recurring frustration into owned initiatives.
• Interview candidates and sharpen how your team evaluates new hires.
• Pair for an hour to unblock a stalled migration.
• Decide what comes off the plate so your team is not underwater.
• Carry your team's priorities into a cross-team engineering forum.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 7+ years in hands-on software engineering roles, with real depth on the backend (Python) or frontend (React, TypeScript, or modern JavaScript frameworks).
• 1+ year in a technical lead, team lead, or hands-on project management role, with a track record of mentoring and growing engineers.
• Experience owning a team's delivery: setting direction, breaking down ambiguous work, and driving projects to done.
• Demonstrated ability to design solutions with AI development tools and coding assistants.
• Strong experience across our stack: Python, React, TypeScript, databases, caching strategies, UNIX tools, and cloud infrastructure (AWS).
• Readiness to own people management responsibilities including performance reviews, interviewing, and career development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading delivery in a high-volume agentic or AI-assisted codebase.
• Experience in a remote-first, asynchronous engineering culture.
• Background in email, marketing SaaS, web platforms, or backend services at scale.
• Familiarity with application monitoring, Test Driven Development, and release management.
• Experience running teams through migrations or platform shifts.
