About the Role
Bitwarden is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer for our Data Insights and Reporting (DIRT) team. Your work will directly impact how enterprise administrators understand the security posture of their organizations. You will build reports, dashboards, and integrations that turn vault data and activity into actionable intelligence, surfacing at-risk credentials, mapping access permissions, protecting users from phishing attacks directly in the browser, and streaming events into SIEM and collaboration tools.
This role combines deep front-end craft, backend API and data architecture, and the challenge of building meaningful insights on top of a zero-knowledge, end-to-end encrypted product within Bitwarden's open-source ecosystem.
This is an all-remote team, and candidates must be located in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available at this time.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively to build and maintain features across Access Intelligence, event integrations, browser extension phishing protection, our shared Rust core library, and the Bitwarden Splunk app.
- Take ownership of your work, partnering with QA to ensure comprehensive test coverage across the application.
- Design and evolve APIs, data models, and encrypted report structures capable of handling enterprise-scale data.
- Review pull requests and provide constructive feedback to support team growth.
- Collaborate with the Bitwarden open-source community to review external contributions and address issues on GitHub.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with .NET Core and C# for backend services.
- Strong proficiency with Angular, TypeScript, and RxJS for front-end development.
- Deep understanding of relational database design, optimization, and SQL Server.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement robust RESTful APIs.
- Experience building enterprise features where auditability, permissions, and compliance are paramount.
- Collaborative and adaptable mindset with strong communication skills.
- Genuine interest in open-source software and internet security.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to finding solutions.
Nice-to-Haves
- Active user of Bitwarden.
- Prior experience in startup or open-source environments.
- Experience with Rust, particularly for cross-platform SDK development.
- Experience with Python, Splunk, or other SIEM platforms (Datadog, Elastic, etc.).
- Familiarity with zero-knowledge or client-side encrypted architectures.
- Experience in browser extension development (Manifest V3, service workers, IndexedDB).
- Experience utilizing AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code).
