Senior Software Engineer, Quality - Camunda

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Quality to build the agentic layer of how Camunda tests its software.

We treat quality as an engineering discipline. We're moving from hand-written test suites toward agents that design, generate, maintain, and triage tests across the lifecycle. We need someone to build both the agents and the infrastructure that makes them dependable, and to help shape our Quality AI strategy.

You'll support product teams that ship features without dedicated QA. Your job is to build the tooling and practices that let builders own quality themselves. Camunda also ships AI capabilities in its own product, so the evaluation practice you build for agent-driven testing feeds directly into how we test non-deterministic features.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Build and operate agents across the testing lifecycle — test design, generation, maintenance, execution, and failure triage.
• Own the infrastructure that makes agent-driven testing reliable: environments, test data, tool interfaces, guardrails, runtime, and cost control.
• Define how we measure agent output quality so teams can trust results instead of hand-reviewing them.
• Apply that evaluation practice to testing Camunda 8's own AI capabilities.
• Work hands-on with new features as teams build them to keep the tooling honest.
• Raise the quality capability of teams through patterns, tooling, and enablement.

What You Bring

• Ability and/or willingness to use our product.
• 5+ years as a software engineer writing production code daily with quality as your core domain.
• Production experience building test infrastructure, developer tooling, or internal platforms that other engineers depend on.
• Hands-on work with LLMs or agent frameworks: prompt and context design, tool use, handling non-determinism, and evaluating output quality.
• Comfort with distributed systems and CI at scale (reasoning about concurrency, state, and timing).
• The ability to drive adoption in teams that don't report to you.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience evaluating or benchmarking LLM systems.
• Open-source contribution experience.
• Java, TypeScript, or Python; Kubernetes and Helm.
• Background in developer tooling or platform engineering.
