Graduate Engineer - CloudLinux

We’re looking for high-potential final-year students and recent graduates with strong problem-solving skills who can grow into outstanding technical contributors at CloudLinux. This is a paid, full-time graduate role and a first step into professional engineering. You’ll work on real products, learn alongside experienced engineers, and deepen your technical skills in areas such as Linux, open-source software, and security.

We’re looking for people who combine strong independent thinking with the ability to use AI confidently to tackle complex technical problems — understanding unfamiliar code, developing solutions, and critically evaluating the results.

About CloudLinux

CloudLinux is a global remote-first company. We are driven by our principles: do the right thing, employees first, we are remote first, and we deliver high-volume, low-cost Linux infrastructure and security products that help companies to increase the efficiency of their operations. Every person on our team supports each other and does what we can to ensure we all are successful.

Check out our website for more information.

What You'll Do

You’ll join an engineering team working on Linux infrastructure and security for web hosting. Our products include CloudLinux OS, which helps hosting providers manage server resources and isolate hosting accounts, and Imunify, which protects servers and websites against malware and attacks.

You don’t need prior experience in these specific areas. We’re looking for strong engineering potential — how you approach unfamiliar problems, learn quickly, and use AI thoughtfully. We’ll consider your challenge results, interests, and strengths alongside the opportunities available across our engineering teams.

Experienced engineers on your team will help you get to know our codebase, tools, and the way we work.

Depending on the team you join, your work may include:

  • Developing and testing product features, fixes, and engineering tools.
  • Investigating production issues, tracing their causes, and implementing reliable solutions.
  • Reading unfamiliar code and understanding how different parts of a system interact.
  • Improving automation for building, testing, and delivering software.
  • Contributing to code reviews and technical discussions.

Requirements

  • Practical programming skills in at least one language, such as C, C++, Python, or Go, whether from coursework, personal projects, or early hands-on experience.
  • Strong analytical thinking, solid fundamentals in algorithms and data structures, and a structured approach to solving problems.
  • The ability to use AI tools to work through unfamiliar programming problems, critically assess and improve their output, and explain and test the resulting solution.
  • Curiosity, the ability to learn independently, and persistence when a solution isn’t immediately clear.
  • Care for code quality and the ability to carry a task through to a working, tested solution.
  • Clear communication and the ability to explain technical decisions.
  • English at B2 level or higher.

We’re looking for people at the very start of their engineering careers. We’re open to:

  • Final-year students.
  • Recent graduates.

This is a full-time position, including for candidates who are still completing their studies.

What May Help You Stand Out

Any of the following can strengthen your application, although none is mandatory:

  • A degree (or final-year standing) in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent skills you can demonstrate through your projects and code.
  • Personal or academic software projects, especially ones whose design decisions you can explain.
  • Contributions to open-source projects, even small ones.
  • Participation in CTF competitions, hackathons, or a homelab you administer.
  • Evidence that you’ve taught yourself a language, stack, or system in depth because a problem demanded it.
  • A strong interest in Linux, operating systems, networking, or security — including relevant coursework, a thesis, research, or personal projects.

If your CV doesn’t fully capture your potential, apply anyway. Show us what you’ve built, the hard problems you’ve solved, and what makes you different from other engineers at a similar stage of their career.

Selection Process

What you build counts for more than your CV.

  • Apply in a couple of minutes — autofill from your CV or LinkedIn.
  • First look — Candidates who look like a fit get a personal link to our engineering challenge, which carries the most weight in our assessment. You can start whenever you’re ready within the access window.
  • Engineering challenge — You’ll have up to 3 hours for the challenge. It is modelled on a real problem from our security products — one our engineers have already solved in production. Your work won’t be used in our products; it is used only to assess your approach and skills.
  • Phased tasks — The task unfolds in phases, with changing requirements. It is deliberately larger than anyone can finish — we look at what you prioritise and why, not at whether you complete every part.
  • AI tools expected — AI tools are expected, not just allowed. We’re interested in your judgment: what you accept, reject, and verify, and how you defend your trade-offs.
  • Interview — Candidates whose challenge results demonstrate a strong match are invited to interview with our senior engineers and HR.

Benefits

  • Fully remote work with flexible hours — schedule your day and work from anywhere in the world.
  • 24 paid vacation days a year, 10 national holidays, and unlimited sick leave.
  • Compensation for private medical insurance.
  • Co-working and gym/sports reimbursement.
  • A dedicated education budget.
  • A reward for the most innovative idea the company can patent.
  • A real focus on professional development, on interesting and challenging projects.
