Senior Forward Deployed Engineer - Clutch

About the Role

Clutch builds AI agents that work on behalf of credit unions. As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), you are one of two engineers on an agent pod, taking it from "sold" to "live and performing." You will sit in discovery sessions, build integrations to core banking systems, author and tune agent behavior, and support go-live.

This is a senior engineering role where you write production code in our monorepo (TypeScript, NestJS, Agent SDK, MCP, Temporal, promptfoo) while maintaining a direct relationship with the customer.

Note: This role requires roughly 20% travel for kickoffs and go-lives. You must be based in the US and able to travel on short notice.

What You’ll Do

Within 1 Month

• Ship your first production change to a live agent.
• Learn the system prompt, tool contracts, and compliance gates of one agent.
• Join at least one credit union implementation as the second engineer.

Within 3 Months

• Own the technical side of one credit union implementation end-to-end.
• Run the eval and tuning loop (golden transcripts, rubric judges, regression suite).
• Complete at least two on-site visits and translate field feedback into product decisions.

Within 6 Months

• Take one net-new agent from sold to live.
• Write the implementation playbook for your agent to enable AI Ops to manage future deployments.
• Shape the roadmap for future agents based on field performance.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience: 7+ years of software engineering in fast-paced environments (SaaS/Fintech preferred).
• Technical Stack: Senior-level TypeScript and Node.js backend experience (NestJS, CQRS, dependency injection).
• Integration Skills: Experience with secure service-to-service endpoints, webhooks, and legacy banking systems.
• Security Mindset: Strong judgment regarding OAuth, tenant-scoped access, and secrets handling.
• Customer Presence: Ability to make technical recommendations directly to stakeholders and own the outcome.
• AI Interest: Practical experience with eval discipline for non-deterministic systems and reading system prompts as code.

About the Team

We operate as a startup inside Clutch, working directly with large credit unions. Our style is direct, written, and evidence-driven. We work async by default, using on-site visits as a tool for specific project milestones.
