Engineering Manager - CompanyCam

What You'll Do

• Own performance, retention, engagement, and outcomes for your direct reports
• Provide timely feedback and coaching through regular 1:1s and help team members find learning and growth opportunities
• Build the processes and culture that let your team succeed, inside and outside the team
• Identify and remove blockers to execution and direct your team's time and attention toward the highest-priority work
• Build and run onboarding plans so new engineers ramp up quickly and confidently
• Stay hands-on with the codebase — code reviews, small fixes, pairing — so your decisions stay grounded and credible
• Author well-scoped features or fixes to unblock the team or speed up delivery
• Participate in code, design, and product reviews with timely, actionable feedback
• Model strong engineering practices: clear commits, solid test coverage, thoughtful PR descriptions
• Own technical feasibility input during discovery and planning
• Contribute to cross-team and department-level initiatives
• Weigh in on department-level process, tooling, and best-practice decisions
• Drive alignment with cross-functional partners and other teams
• Champion department-level initiatives within your team

What You'll Bring

Required

• Experience as a senior software engineer with a track record in production codebases
• Experience managing engineers or leading teams as a tech lead or project lead
• Comfort staying technically active in a management role without stepping on your team's ownership
• Experience interviewing engineers and contributing to hiring decisions
• Experience with product development
• Ability to facilitate technical discussions and help your team align on implementation approaches
• Experience monitoring engineering execution against architectural decisions and team goals, catching risks early
• Ability to balance delivery pressure with technical health and advocate for the right investment in infrastructure
• Skill translating between technical concepts and business context for different audiences
• Strong track record championing engineering standards — code review, testing, CI practices
• Working knowledge of security, data protection, and compliance principles in software development
• Comfort participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation, including escalation and decision-making during incidents

• Demonstrated coaching and mentoring skills, with a track record of giving constructive career-growth feedback
• Experience setting expectations, running performance reviews, and managing improvement plans
• Skill building psychologically safe, cohesive, inclusive teams
• Experience mediating conflict and helping teams work through technical or interpersonal friction
• Experience guiding teams through organizational or technical change without losing momentum
• Comfort delegating based on skill level, development needs, and team priorities
• Ability to translate business objectives into technical initiatives with measurable outcomes
• Experience managing technical debt and balancing short-term delivery with long-term health
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with Product, Design, Data, and other partners
• Experience prioritizing across competing initiatives based on impact, feasibility, and resources
• Comfort working with incomplete information and shifting priorities

Benefits and Compensation

This is a salaried position at CompanyCam. Our salary range is $200,000 - $220,000 per year and is based on experience. We also offer meaningful equity and other benefits.
