About Kit
Kit is the email marketing platform experts choose to grow their audience, deepen their relationships, and build a business around the work they love. For coaches, YouTubers, authors, podcasters, and other creatives, there isn't a better marketing hub to rely on to grow audiences, automate email marketing, and sell digital products—all within one platform.
We are on a mission to help creators earn $1 billion using our creator marketing platform. We have always been 100% independent and 100% remote.
The Role
Kit is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to help navigate legal complexities with clarity, speed, and commercial savvy. You will serve as the in-house legal subject matter expert, partnering closely with the executive team to lead product legal strategy and execution—especially around privacy, data, AI and compliance, commercial contracts, customer security requirements, and scalable legal support for our teams. A key focus will be helping Kit respond to a growing volume of privacy questions—particularly around Subscriber Signals—by building practical, repeatable systems that provide timely and consistent guidance at scale.
You'll help shape the legal backbone of a fast-moving tech company with multiple revenue streams—including SaaS, digital commerce, paid recommendations, and advertising.
Your Support System
You'll report to Chief Operating Officer Brian Bevel and partner regularly with leaders across product, sales, finance, and people operations. You'll own core legal work in-house, reduce reliance on outside counsel, and know when specialized outside counsel is truly needed.
What You'll Do
- First week: Get up to speed on our business model, current goals, and products. Learn about Kit, SparkLoop, and Subscriber Signals. Meet key internal stakeholders and external counsel. Review common legal agreements, privacy questions, and customer security requests to assess risk, opportunity, and recurring work.
- First month: Take stock of active data processing, privacy, AI, and other legal initiatives. Map recurring privacy questions and design a scalable intake, guidance, and escalation system. Partner with Sales, Sponsorships, Security, Product, and Engineering. Take ownership of GDPR and data compliance vetting and establish a process for customer security questionnaires.
- First six months: Serve as the go-to partner for legal considerations across product, engineering, security, and GTM teams. Build scalable systems (playbooks, templates, intake processes) for recurring privacy, data-use, and compliance questions. Prioritize legal risks and streamline legal workflows.
- First year: Help Kit operate at a higher level of legal maturity across privacy, compliance, product counsel, commercial contracts, and security support. Establish durable systems that enable teams to answer common questions independently while escalating higher-risk matters appropriately.
