The Opportunity

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and evolving the foundational software and services that empower our product and development teams. This is an Individual Contributor role requiring strong coding skills alongside hands-on work with GCP & AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform. You will be a key contributor to the design, implementation, and automation of our platform as a product, ensuring its scalability, reliability, and security.

This role is based remotely as a full-time employee in the UK, Ireland, Estonia, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Israel. We are also open to contractors in Eastern Europe and Portugal.

Responsibilities

  • Team Collaboration & Mentorship: Actively collaborate with peers through code reviews, mentorship, and contributing to a unified platform technical direction. Work with feature teams to facilitate adoption of platform capabilities.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Treat infrastructure as software using Terraform. Design reusable modules, implement robust testing strategies, and ensure predictable provisioning.
  • Kubernetes Cluster Management: Deploy, manage, and optimize GKE and EKS clusters, including node groups, network policies, cluster upgrades, service meshes, and high availability.
  • Internal Software Delivery (CI/CD): Design and maintain CI/CD automation tailored for platform components using tools like Argo CD or Atlantis.
  • Troubleshooting & Incident Response: Diagnose and resolve platform performance bottlenecks, scalability issues, and security vulnerabilities. Lead post-mortem analyses.
  • Automation Initiatives: Champion automation to reduce manual operational tasks and human error while boosting system reliability.
  • Strategic Partnership: Treat feature teams as internal customers, understanding their infrastructure needs and translating them into platform features.
  • Internal Platform Services: Participate in the full software development lifecycle of internal tools and APIs to improve developer productivity.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement and enforce security best practices (access control, vulnerability management, encryption) and ensure compliance with SOC 2 and GDPR.

Qualifications

  • Software Engineering Fundamentals: Strong coding proficiency in Go, TypeScript, or other relevant languages, with deep knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and defensive programming.
  • Experience: 6+ years in platform engineering, DevOps engineering, or related roles building scalable cloud infrastructure.
  • Cloud & Infrastructure: Hands-on experience with GCP/AWS, Kubernetes (GKE/EKS), and Terraform.
  • CI/CD Expertise: Proven experience with tools like Argo CD, Atlantis, or similar technologies.
  • Observability & Networking: Solid understanding of networking concepts and extensive experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.
  • Security: Deep knowledge of security best practices for cloud environments.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent written and verbal English communication, goal-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a remote, distributed environment.
