Location & Work Type

This role is based remotely for full-time employees in the UK, Ireland, Estonia, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Israel. DoiT is also open to contractors in Eastern Europe and Portugal.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and evolving the foundational software and services that empower our product and development teams. This is an Individual Contributor role requiring strong coding skills alongside hands-on work with GCP & AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform. You will be a key contributor to the design, implementation, and automation of our platform as a product, ensuring its scalability, reliability, and security.

Responsibilities

• Function as an Individual Contributor: Collaborate actively with peers through thorough code reviews, provide support and mentorship, and drive unified technical direction. Facilitate adoption of platform features across feature teams.
• Architect, Design, and Implement IaC: Manage infrastructure lifecycle using Terraform. Apply software engineering best practices including reusable code modules, testing strategies, and repeatable provisioning.
• Manage & Optimize Kubernetes Clusters: Take ownership of deployment, configuration, and maintenance of Kubernetes clusters on GCP (GKE) and AWS (EKS). Configure network policies, service meshes, node groups, and cluster upgrades.
• Develop Software Delivery Systems (CI/CD): Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for platform components using tools like Argo CD or Atlantis.
• Diagnose and Resolve Issues: Act as the primary point of contact for diagnosing and resolving platform bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and security vulnerabilities.
• Drive Automation Initiatives: Champion automation to eliminate manual operational tasks, improve system reliability, and streamline workflows.
• Strategic Partnership with Dev Teams: Engage with feature teams to understand infrastructure and developer experience requirements, serving their needs as internal customers.
• Build Internal Platform Products & APIs: Participate in full SDLC of internal tools and services to enhance self-service capabilities and developer productivity.
• Enforce Security & Compliance: Implement security best practices across access control, vulnerability management, and data encryption, ensuring compliance with SOC 2 and GDPR.

Qualifications

• Software Engineering Fundamentals: Strong hands-on coding proficiency in Go, TypeScript, or other relevant languages with expertise in data structures, algorithms, and defensive programming.
• Experience: 6+ years in platform engineering, DevOps engineering, or related roles building and maintaining complex cloud infrastructure.
• Cloud & IaC Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with GCP/AWS, Kubernetes (GKE/EKS), and Terraform.
• CI/CD Proficiency: Experience with Argo CD, Atlantis, or similar technologies and CI/CD best practices.
• Observability & Networking: Extensive experience with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, and understanding of core networking concepts.
• Security Knowledge: Understanding of security best practices for cloud environments and industry compliance standards.
• Communication & Remote Work: Excellent written and verbal English communication; self-organized, goal-oriented, and effective in distributed teams.
