As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and evolving the foundational software and services that empower our product and development teams. This is an Individual Contributor role requiring strong coding skills alongside hands-on work with GCP & AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform. You will be a key contributor to the design, implementation, and automation of our platform as a product, ensuring its scalability, reliability, and security.
Key Responsibilities
- Individual Contribution & Collaboration: Actively collaborate with peers through thorough code reviews, provide constructive support and mentorship, and contribute to a unified technical direction. Work with feature teams to facilitate the adoption of platform features.
- Architect & Implement IaC: Treat infrastructure as a software system, managing its lifecycle using Terraform. Apply software engineering best practices including reusable modules, robust testing strategies, and repeatable provisioning.
- Kubernetes Cluster Management: Deploy, configure, and maintain GKE (GCP) and EKS (AWS) clusters. Manage node groups, network policies, service meshes, cluster upgrades, high availability, and resource utilization monitoring.
- Internal Software Delivery Systems: Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines tailored for platform components using tools like Argo CD or Atlantis. Optimize pipeline performance and release automation.
- Platform Diagnostics & Resolution: Serve as a primary point of contact for diagnosing performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and security vulnerabilities. Lead post-mortems and incident response plans.
- Drive Automation: Champion initiatives to eliminate manual operational tasks through custom scripts, tools, and workflows.
- Developer Advocacy: Act as a strategic partner to internal feature teams, translating developer needs into actionable platform product features and roadmaps.
- Platform Product Development: Participate in the full software development lifecycle (design, code, test, deploy) for internal platform tools and APIs.
- Security & Compliance: Enforce robust security practices across the platform (access control, vulnerability management, data encryption) and ensure compliance with SOC 2 and GDPR.
