Location & Eligibility
This role is based remotely as a full-time employee in the UK, Ireland, Estonia, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Israel. We are also open to contractors in Eastern Europe and Portugal.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and evolving the foundational software and services that empower our product and development teams. This is an Individual Contributor role requiring strong coding skills alongside hands-on work with GCP & AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform. You will be a key contributor to the design, implementation, and automation of our platform as a product, ensuring its scalability, reliability, and security.
Responsibilities
- Function as an Individual Contributor: Collaboratively work with peers through code reviews, support, mentorship, and feature team alignment.
- Architect & Implement IaC: Treat infrastructure as software using Terraform, applying reusable modules, testing strategies, and consistent lifecycle management.
- Manage Kubernetes Clusters: Ownership of deployment, configuration, and optimization of Kubernetes on GKE and EKS, including node groups, network policies, upgrades, and monitoring.
- Develop CI/CD Systems: Design and maintain Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment pipelines using tools like Argo CD or Atlantis.
- Troubleshooting & Incident Resolution: Diagnose platform performance bottlenecks, security vulnerabilities, and infrastructure issues.
- Drive Automation: Champion automation to eliminate manual tasks, developing scripts and workflows for system provisioning and monitoring.
- Strategic Developer Partner: Act as an internal partner to product engineering teams to understand developer experience needs and streamline platform adoption.
- Develop Platform Products: Code internal tools and APIs to improve self-service capabilities and developer productivity.
- Security & Compliance: Implement access control, vulnerability management, data encryption, and compliance standards such as SOC 2 and GDPR.
Qualifications
- Software Engineering Fundamentals: Hands-on coding experience in Go, TypeScript, or other modern programming languages.
- Platform/DevOps Experience: 6+ years of experience in platform engineering or DevOps, building and maintaining complex cloud infrastructure.
- Cloud & Container Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with GCP/AWS, Kubernetes (GKE/EKS), and Terraform.
- CI/CD Proficiency: Experience with CI/CD tools such as Argo CD, Atlantis, or similar technologies.
- Monitoring & Observability: Hands-on experience with tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.
- Networking & Security: Understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and cloud security best practices.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills for working within distributed remote teams.
