The Opportunity

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and evolving the foundational software and services that empower our product and development teams. This is an Individual Contributor role requiring strong coding skills alongside hands-on work with GCP & AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform. You will be a key contributor to the design, implementation, and automation of our platform as a product, ensuring its scalability, reliability, and security.

Responsibilities

  • Function as an individual contributor within the team: Actively collaborate with peers through thorough code reviews, providing constructive support and mentorship, and contributing to a unified technical direction for the platform. Collaborate with feature teams to facilitate the adoption of platform features.
  • Architect, Design, and Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Treat infrastructure as software, taking responsibility for lifecycle management using Terraform. Apply software engineering best practices such as reusable modules, robust testing strategies, and predictable provisioning.
  • Deploy, Manage, and Optimize Kubernetes Clusters on GCP (GKE) and AWS (EKS): Take ownership of deployment, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of GKE and EKS clusters. Manage node groups, network policies, service meshes, cluster upgrades, high availability, monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Develop and Refine Internal Software Delivery Systems (CI/CD): Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines tailored for platform components. Integrate tools like Argo CD or Atlantis to automate build and release processes.
  • Diagnose, Troubleshoot, and Resolve Platform-Related Issues: Serve as a primary point of contact for diagnosing performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and security vulnerabilities. Lead post-mortems and incident response plans.
  • Drive Automation Initiatives: Champion initiatives to eliminate manual operational tasks, reduce human error, and enhance system reliability using scripts, tools, and automated workflows.
  • Strategic Partnership with Development Teams: Partner with feature teams as internal customers to understand infrastructure needs, improve developer experience, and translate feedback into platform roadmaps.
  • Develop Internal Platform Products and Services: Participate in the full software lifecycle of internal tools and APIs to improve self-service capabilities and developer productivity.
  • Security and Compliance: Enforce security best practices across access control, vulnerability management, and data encryption. Ensure compliance with standards like SOC 2 and GDPR.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 6+ years of proven experience in platform engineering, DevOps engineering, or related roles, with a track record of building and maintaining complex cloud infrastructure.
  • Cloud & IaC: Strong hands-on experience with GCP/AWS, Kubernetes (GKE/EKS), and Terraform.
