The Opportunity
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and evolving the foundational software and services that empower our product and development teams. This is an Individual Contributor role requiring strong coding skills alongside hands-on work with GCP & AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform. You will be a key contributor to the design, implementation, and automation of our platform as a product, ensuring its scalability, reliability, and security.
Key Responsibilities
- Individual Contribution & Mentorship: Actively collaborate with peers through thorough code reviews, provide constructive support and mentorship, and contribute to a unified technical direction for the platform. Collaborate with feature teams to facilitate adoption of platform features.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Treat infrastructure as a software system using Terraform. Apply software engineering best practices including reusable code modules, unit/integration testing strategies, and repeatable provisioning.
- Kubernetes Cluster Management: Deploy, manage, and optimize Kubernetes clusters on GCP (GKE) and AWS (EKS). Manage node groups, network policies, service meshes, cluster upgrades, high availability, and performance monitoring.
- CI/CD & Delivery Systems: Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for platform components integrating tools like Argo CD or Atlantis to automate build and release processes.
- Troubleshooting & Incident Response: Serve as a primary point of contact for platform-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and security vulnerabilities. Lead post-mortem analyses.
- Operational Automation: Develop scripts, tools, and workflows to eliminate manual operational tasks and enhance overall system reliability.
- Developer Experience & Internal Products: Engage feature teams as internal customers to understand their infrastructure needs. Participate in the full software development lifecycle of internal tools and APIs to enhance self-service capabilities.
- Security & Compliance: Implement and enforce security best practices across access control, vulnerability management, and data encryption, ensuring compliance with standards such as SOC 2 and GDPR.
Qualifications
- Software Engineering Fundamentals: Strong coding proficiency in Go, TypeScript, or other relevant languages, with proven knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and defensive programming.
- Experience: 6+ years in platform engineering, DevOps engineering, or related cloud infrastructure roles.
- Cloud & Tooling: Hands-on experience with GCP/AWS, Kubernetes (GKE/EKS), and Terraform.
- CI/CD: Experience with CI/CD tools such as Argo CD, Atlantis, or similar technologies.
- Observability: Experience with monitoring and logging tools including Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack.
- Networking & Security: Solid understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and cloud security best practices.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Remote Competency: Self-organized, goal-oriented, and experienced working in remote, distributed team environments.
