The Opportunity
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and evolving the foundational software and services that empower our product and development teams. This is an Individual Contributor role requiring strong coding skills alongside hands-on work with GCP & AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform. You will be a key contributor to the design, implementation, and automation of our platform as a product, ensuring its scalability, reliability, and security.
Responsibilities
- Individual Contributor: Actively collaborate with peers through thorough code reviews, providing constructive support and mentorship while contributing to a unified technical direction. Collaborate with feature teams to facilitate adoption of platform features.
- Architect, Design, and Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Treat infrastructure as a software system using Terraform, applying software engineering best practices including reusable code modules, unit/integration testing strategies, and repeatable provisioning.
- Deploy, Manage, and Optimize Kubernetes Clusters: Take ownership of deployment, configuration, and maintenance of GKE (GCP) and EKS (AWS) clusters. Manage node groups, configure network policies, implement service meshes, handle upgrades, and ensure high availability.
- Develop CI/CD Systems: Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines tailored for platform components using tools like Argo CD or Atlantis to automate build and release processes.
- Diagnose and Resolve Platform Issues: Act as the primary point of contact for platform-related performance bottlenecks, scalability challenges, and security vulnerabilities using detailed log and metric analysis.
- Drive Automation Initiatives: Champion automation to eliminate manual operational tasks, reduce human error, and enhance system reliability using scripts, tools, and automated workflows.
- Strategic Partnering: Treat internal feature teams as customers, understanding their infrastructure requirements and translating developer needs into actionable platform product features.
- Platform Product Development: Participate in the full software development lifecycle of internal tools and APIs to enhance self-service capabilities and developer productivity.
- Security & Compliance: Implement and enforce security best practices across the platform (access control, vulnerability management, data encryption) and ensure compliance with SOC 2 and GDPR.
