The Role
EDB is looking for a Senior Sales Engineer to join our team of sales engineering professionals. In this role, you will support the sales team in all technical aspects of the sales process including presentations, demos, proof of value, pilots, technical workshops, and technical account management. You will work closely with Field & Inside Sales, Partners, Product Management, and Engineering to act as a conduit of technical requirements to and from EDB to our clients. This role primarily covers the Central & Eastern European (CEE) region.
What Your Impact Will Be
- Interact with customers, prospects, and partners on a regular basis, driving technical discussions to support sales in the region.
- Engage with existing customers and business partners, providing EDB technical expertise to help clients solve business problems and grow subscription and services business.
- Provide subject matter expertise to ensure planned sales targets are achieved.
- Work with EDB professional services to build statements of work required for the deployment of EDB solutions.
- Assist clients and partners in building training and enablement plans.
- Provide a single point of technical contact for partner engagements, liaising with local EDB SEs to provide necessary technical support.
- Provide EDB product management and engineering with guidance on product usage, performance, and competitive information.
What You Will Bring
- Ability to drive database-related discussions at the CXO level and provide guidance to drive adoption of EDB Postgres (including competing with native cloud databases or working with cloud service providers).
- Support key and strategic sales motions in the CEE region from a technical perspective.
- At least 4 to 5 years of direct customer-facing experience (within the past 8-10 years), delivering technical product presentations and demonstrations.
- Ability to conduct product proof-of-concepts from initial requirements gathering to successful execution.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, EDB Postgres, or Oracle databases, including concepts like High Availability, upgrades/patching, scalability, performance, and security.
- Relational database experience (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server) with active use or administration.
- Good understanding of NoSQL and unstructured data store concepts (MongoDB, Hadoop, Cassandra, etc.).
- Good knowledge of SQL, SQL query tuning, debugging techniques, and DB server tuning.
- Basic to intermediate Linux system administration experience, including software installation and troubleshooting.
- Motivated team player comfortable working with partners, channels, customers, and remote EDB teams.
- Good communication skills in English (Polish speaking is highly preferred/required for this region).
- Willingness to travel and spend time in the field with customers, partners, and System Integrators.
What Will Give You an Edge
- Foundational experience in AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, VMWare Cloud, or OpenStack in relation to databases.
- Exposure to containers (Docker), microservices, and PaaS (Kubernetes, OpenShift) in relation to databases.
- Understanding of (and ability to write) SQL, PL/SQL, PL/pgSQL, bash shell, or Python scripts.
- Ability to author solution collaterals and respond to RFPs (Request For Proposals).
- Ability to coordinate Professional Services deliverables between Delivery, Solution Architect, and customer teams.
