About the Role
Elastic is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Integrations Team. You will play a pivotal role in shaping how Elastic integrates with the broader AI ecosystem, including AI assistants, agentic tools, and developer-facing surfaces like language clients, CLI, and MCP servers.
This is a fast-moving, ambiguous space. We are looking for someone who can form strong opinions on product direction and work closely with product teams and external partners to make Elastic easy to find, connect to, and use.
What You Will Be Doing
- Platform Development: Build and evolve the Elastic MCP server and the underlying infrastructure, primarily using Go.
- Universal Agent Skills: Develop the platform for universal agent skills, including portable formats, authoring/publishing tooling, and linting.
- Quality Assurance: Set the correctness bar for tools and skills using rigorous evaluation methods.
- Integrations: Design and deliver integrations that make Elastic available within third-party AI ecosystems.
- Tooling: Contribute to the Elastic CLI to enhance developer efficiency.
- Maintenance: Develop and support libraries and tools related to the Elastic Stack, working in Go and Rust.
- Product Strategy: Bring product thinking to the team, defending opinions on what to build based on ecosystem trends.
What You Bring
- 8+ years of software engineering experience in backend systems, services, or libraries.
- Proficiency with AI/ML frameworks and a working understanding of LLMs, agents, and protocols like MCP.
- Significant recent experience with Go and a willingness to work in other languages (e.g., Rust).
- Strong knowledge of client-server networking, HTTP, and RESTful APIs.
- A strong focus on usability and developer experience.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
- Ability to work independently within a remote, globally distributed team.
Bonus Points
- Experience building or operating infrastructure (telemetry/observability).
- Active participation in technical communities (open source, blogs, talks).
- Experience working with third-party or partner engineering teams.
- Prior experience with the Elastic product suite.
Benefits
