UX & Front End Engineer, AI - Elastic

About the Role

Elastic is seeking an innovative UX Engineer to bridge the gap between powerful AI capabilities and intuitive, delightful user interfaces. You will join the Elastic IT team to craft the next frontier of generative and agentic AI experiences, focusing on streaming text, dynamic prompt workflows, and agent reasoning visualizations.

What You Will Be Doing

• AI UI/UX Implementation: Translate complex generative and agentic AI processes into responsive, engaging front-end interfaces.
• Front-End Architecture: Build and maintain scalable, accessible UI component libraries using React and TypeScript.
• Interaction Patterns: Prototype novel patterns for conversational AI, thought logs, tool calls, and rich dynamic outputs.
• Performance Optimization: Manage token streaming latency, async state, and optimistic UI updates for real-time AI responses.
• Enterprise Integration: Connect front-end systems to RAG endpoints, Elasticsearch Relevance Engine (ESRE), and agent orchestration APIs.
• Collaboration: Partner with UX designers, product managers, and AI backend engineers to refine workflows based on user feedback.
• Standards & Observability: Ensure WCAG accessibility compliance and implement tracking for interaction latency and prompt effectiveness.

What You Bring

• Proven experience creating user interfaces for GenAI applications.
• Deep expertise in modern TypeScript, JavaScript, React, HTML5, and CSS/Sass.
• Experience managing complex asynchronous UI state, WebSockets, and Server-Sent Events (SSE).
• Background in UX design, wireframing, and rapid prototyping.
• Familiarity with AI orchestration tools (e.g., LangGraph) and design systems (e.g., Storybook).
• A strong desire to master the Elastic Stack, including ESRE and EUI.
