About Filigran
Founded in 2022, Filigran is a global cybersecurity company on a mission to empower defense teams to be proactive through open-source solutions that uncover threats and drive action.
Filigran stands out in the cybersecurity ecosystem through its open-source, AI-powered and threat-informed approach to Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM). Our eXtended Threat Management (XTM) platform brings together threat intelligence, exposure validation, and cyber risk reduction, enabling organizations to better understand their threat landscape and take action.
The Role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is genuinely, deeply convinced that AI is transforming the way software gets built, and who wants to make that transformation happen at Filigran.
We are looking for an engineer first. This is a practitioner role for someone who has already lived this shift, experiments constantly, knows what works and what doesn't, and can bring 60+ engineers along on that journey. You will join the XTM Foundation team as Filigran's internal reference on AI-Native engineering, proposing approaches, building practices, running experiments, and sharing results so teams can adopt new workflows with confidence.
Responsibilities
- AI Strategy: Define and own Filigran's AI-Native engineering strategy, determining tools, workflows, practices, and how they evolve as the landscape shifts.
- Tooling & Experimentation: Run structured experiments evaluating AI coding tools and agents (Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Cline, MCP servers, code generation agents), measuring impact on velocity and quality.
- Quality Standards: Build guardrails and engineering standards ensuring AI-generated code remains maintainable, rigorously tested, and aligned with core quality bars.
- Team Enablement: Work directly with product engineering teams (~80 engineers) to embed AI practices into day-to-day workflows: pair programming, AI-assisted code reviews, test generation, and documentation.
- Knowledge Sharing: Run internal talks, workshops, and demos sharing real results, including failures.
- Platform Engineering: Integrate AI practices into shared building blocks within the XTM Foundation team, such as CI pipeline agent workflows, shared MCP servers, prompt libraries, and repository configurations.
- Community & Evangelism: Contribute to Filigran's external voice on AI-Native engineering via blog posts, open-source contributions, and conference talks.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong technical judgment across full-stack systems.
- AI-first practitioner mindset: already transformed your software development practices and can showcase hands-on work and measured results.
- Experience rolling out AI-assisted development practices within engineering teams.
- Deep familiarity with the AI tooling landscape (agentic coding tools, LLM-powered reviews, prompt engineering, MCP ecosystem).
- Clear communicator capable of discussing trade-offs with senior engineers and guiding developers.
- Comfortable working in a remote-first, asynchronous culture across multiple time zones.
- Autonomy, ownership mindset, and drive to move initiatives forward collaboratively.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with open-source communities.
- Domain knowledge in cybersecurity.
- Contributions to AI tooling projects or public speaking/writing on AI-Native engineering.
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation and equity package.
- Remote-first flexibility with an async-driven culture.
- 25 days baseline paid time off (PTO).
- Paid volunteer days.
- Equipment stipend/choice for home office setup.
- Two annual in-person company gatherings (one company-wide, one team-focused).
