Senior Frontend Engineer (Vue), Create: Repository Management - GitLab

About the Role

GitLab is seeking a Senior Frontend Engineer to join the Repository Management team within the Source Code stage. You will work on one of GitLab's most critical product areas, helping users configure repositories and building guardrails for AI agents interacting with code. You will utilize Vue.js and GraphQL to improve performance, reliability, and user experience across GitLab.com, self-managed instances, and GitLab Dedicated.

What You’ll Do

• Develop Features: Build secure, well-tested, and performant features using Vue.js and GraphQL.
• Solve Complexity: Turn complex requirements and legacy constraints into intuitive, accessible, and responsive interfaces.
• Collaborate: Work asynchronously and synchronously with product management, design, and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Leverage AI: Integrate AI agents into workflows to accelerate delivery while critically reviewing and maintaining code quality.
• Ensure Reliability: Monitor production health, participate in Tier 2 on-call rotations, troubleshoot incidents, and improve system observability.
• Advocate Standards: Write maintainable code and mentor team members through rigorous code reviews.

What You’ll Bring

• Technical Expertise: Professional experience with Vue.js (or similar frameworks like React/Angular) and GraphQL.
• Frontend Fundamentals: Strong grasp of semantic HTML, CSS, core JavaScript, responsive design, and accessibility standards.
• Problem Solving: Experience managing complex permissions, policy, or rules-based logic in web applications.
• Testing: Proficiency in frontend unit and acceptance testing (e.g., Jest, Karma, Mocha).
• AI Proficiency: A track record of using AI coding agents effectively in large monorepos.
• Communication: Clear written and spoken English; ability to influence without authority in a remote, asynchronous environment.
• Ownership: Ability to work through ambiguity, manage priorities independently, and take initiative.
