
Overview
As a Senior Professional Services Engineer, you will own delivery workstreams on federal engagements in FedRAMP-authorized cloud environments, DoD Impact Level 4/5 enclaves, and fully disconnected networks. You will install and configure GitLab in classified environments, migrate agencies from legacy tooling, and advise customers on security and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Statement of Work scope independently, including architecture decisions and technical troubleshooting.
- Install, configure, and upgrade GitLab reference architectures in cloud, on-premises, and air-gapped environments.
- Harden GitLab against agency security baselines (DISA STIG, FIPS, PIV/CAC).
- Execute migration plans from legacy systems (Bitbucket, GitHub, Jenkins) to GitLab Self-Managed or Dedicated.
- Serve as the primary technical contact for agency engineering and security teams.
- Document implementations, create reusable runbooks, and provide feedback to Product and Engineering teams.
Requirements
- Active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.
- Must be based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, Packer, Puppet, or Chef).
- Proficiency with major cloud providers (AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or Google Assured Workloads).
- Deep knowledge of GitLab, Docker, and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with federal compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, CMMC, DISA STIGs).
- Strong scripting skills in Python, Ruby, or Go.
- Excellent communication skills for mixed technical audiences.
