Incentive Compensation Systems Manager - Grafana Labs

The Opportunity

We are looking for an Incentive Compensation (IC) Systems Manager to drive the systemization, automation, and continuous improvement of our commission operations. This is a high-impact, individual contributor role with end-to-end ownership, reporting to the Senior Manager, Incentive Compensation. You will identify gaps in existing processes, replace manual workarounds with scalable systems, and bring greater predictability, accuracy, and speed to how the business manages commissions, quotas, and comp plan administration.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Process & Gap Assessment: Map current-state workflows across plan administration, calculation, approvals, and payout. Prioritize manual, repetitive, or error-prone steps based on risk and business impact.
• Systematization & Automation: Design and build automated workflows and integrations to replace manual data pulls, reconciliations, and exception handling.
• Xactly ICM Ownership: Serve as the hands-on owner of Xactly (Incent and Connect), configuring calculation rules, plan logic, and workflows.
• AI-Enabled Process Automation: Identify opportunities for AI and LLM-driven agents to automate exception detection, data reconciliation, and plan document review.
• Systems Integration: Partner with Finance, People Ops, and RevOps to ensure seamless data flow between CRM (Salesforce), HRIS (Workday), and calculation engines.
• Documentation & Governance: Establish clear SOPs and controls to ensure processes are auditable, maintainable, and scalable.
• Cross-Functional Enablement: Translate IC process needs into technical system requirements and provide practical recommendations to stakeholders.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• Professional Experience: 5+ years in incentive compensation, sales operations, or revenue operations.
• Process Improvement Mindset: Proven track record of building solutions for broken or inefficient processes.
• SQL & Data Fluency: Hands-on SQL experience for querying and reconciling data across systems.
• Automation & Tooling: Experience with ICM platforms (e.g., Xactly, CaptivateIQ, Varicent, SPIFF) and building automated workflows.
• Systems Fluency: Deep understanding of the tech stack including Salesforce, HRIS, and data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery).
• Analytical Rigor: Strong grasp of core comp mechanics including quotas, accelerators, SPIFFs, and payout timing.

Bonus Points

• Experience in high-growth SaaS, cloud, or open-source companies (IPO readiness).
• Experience working in globally distributed, remote-first organizations.
• Experience building AI agents or documenting datasets for Model Context Protocol (MCP) server ingestion.
