Senior Full Stack Engineer, Database Observability - Grafana Labs

About the Squad: Database Observability

We build and evolve Grafana Cloud Database Observability to help users understand the health and performance of their databases, identify slow queries, and troubleshoot issues through clear, actionable insights.

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer with a primary focus on frontend engineering, you'll build experiences that make complex database telemetry easy to explore and understand. Our frontend stack is primarily TypeScript and React, interacting with backends written in Go. While your primary focus will be frontend engineering, you will have opportunities to work across the stack, contributing to APIs and backend functionality to deliver complete customer experiences.

Responsibilities

• Own technical projects from problem framing through rollout, including getting user feedback and measuring whether what you shipped actually worked.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Product Design, and backend engineers to build intuitive user experiences using clean, reusable components, contributing to supporting APIs and backend functionality where needed.
• Mentor and collaborate with other engineers. Raise the engineering bar through code reviews, design feedback, pairing on complex problems, and documentation.
• Participate in on-call for the software you help build, contributing to incident response and learning from incidents.
• Provide technical support in customer escalations and help identify areas of high friction to address.
• Collaborate with other squads on shared dependencies, contribute to design proposals, and share the team's work through demos and technical discussions.
• Utilize pragmatic AI-assisted development tools (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google frontier models) to iterate quickly while maintaining strong code quality and security standards.

Requirements

• Frontend & Full Stack Expertise: Strong frontend engineering experience with React and TypeScript, alongside comfort contributing to backend services and APIs in production web applications.
• Technical Ownership: Solid experience delivering complex projects, mentoring engineers, and communicating effectively in a fully remote, asynchronous environment.
• Operational Mindset: Experience taking responsibility for operating software in production, including being on-call and responding to incidents.
• Problem-Solving Ability: Self-starter capable of tackling complex engineering problems with minimal supervision.
• User Focus & Pragmatism: Ability to break complex problems into short feedback loops: analyze, design, deliver an MVP, learn, and iterate.
• AI Fluency: Experience using AI coding tools thoughtfully to improve productivity, validate output, and share best practices.
• Community Focus: Passion for engaging with the Grafana open-source community.

Bonus Points

• Open-source contributions or maintainership.
• Interest or experience in observability (metrics, logs, traces) and tools like Grafana, Prometheus, Loki, or Tempo.
• Experience with databases, SQL, or database performance monitoring.
• Experience building backend services in Go.
• Prior experience working in a fully remote, globally distributed team.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary Range (Spain): €85,000 - €107,000 (market-specific ranges apply for other eligible countries).
