The Opportunity
We're looking for a Policy Forms Senior Analyst to help us keep pace with aggressive state and product expansion by drafting the forms every launch depends on. Kin is entering new states and launching new products now, and that pace will continue through 2027 and beyond. A new state can't open until its full form set is drafted, which puts this role on the critical path for growth.
You'll join the Forms team within Legal & Compliance, reporting to our Senior Insurance Counsel. You'll anchor either personal auto or property, depending on your experience, and serve as backup for the other line. You'll draft independently, with attorney review as the only check before your work moves to filing. You'll also set the drafting standards and reusable templates the rest of the team builds from, and tackle the most complex state packages. Filing, version control, and system implementation sit with dedicated teammates, so your time goes to research, drafting, and raising the team's output quality.
Your Responsibilities
- Tackle the most complex new-state packages, including states with extensive or ambiguous statutory requirements, and develop the drafting approach for the team.
- Draft complete new state and product forms packages for your line of business, including base policies, endorsements, state amendatory endorsements, and required notices, ready for filing.
- Build and maintain the countrywide base forms and reusable state kit for your line. For personal auto, that includes UM and UIM, PIP, selection and rejection forms, and state notices. For property, it includes homeowners, manufactured home, condo, and flood, including surplus lines notices where applicable.
- Research state statutes and regulations directly and translate them into compliant, clear policy wording.
- Draft responses to Department of Insurance objections and participate in regulatory discussions alongside counsel.
- Own your drafts from first research to attorney-approved final, working independently.
- Establish drafting standards and reusable language that make each new state package faster to produce than the last.
- Lead internal knowledge sharing on Kin's policy forms in your line of business.
- Serve as the backup drafter for the other lines of business, so no launch depends on a single person.
- Use and evaluate Kin’s AI-assisted research and drafting tools—including tools for competitor research, automated formatting, and AI-assisted statutory research—as part of the daily drafting workflow. Apply human judgment to assess AI-generated output, flag areas requiring review, and identify opportunities to improve tool accuracy, coverage, and effectiveness.
- Maintain and update the forms packages in your assigned line of business, revising them in response to new statutes, regulations, and DOI bulletins, and to product enhancements and coverage changes.
Success in This Role
In your first 6–12 months at Kin, success is less about checking boxes and more about the impact you create. By the end of your first year, you should feel confident in your role, trusted as an owner, and proud of the progress you've helped make.
- Multiple complete state and product forms packages for your line of business have been developed and delivered for filing.
- You are the go-to subject matter expert on Kin's policy forms in your line of business.
- A filing deadline can be met even when one drafter is out, because you can step into the other line of business.
- Drafting standards and reusable templates you created are actively used by the team.
- Your drafts consistently move to filing with minimal rework after legal review.
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of policy form drafting experience
- Experience drafting personal lines policy forms for multiple states
- Experience reading state insurance statutes and regulations directly and converting requirements into policy language
- Experience drafting responses to regulator objections on form filings
- Track record of drafting complete forms packages independently, with attorney review as the only check
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex or ambiguous statutory requirements with minimal guidance
Bonus Points:
- Experience with Kin's lines of business: personal auto (UM and UIM, PIP, selection and rejection forms, state notices) or property (homeowners, condo, manufactured home, flood, or surplus lines notices)
