Sr. Manager, Email Security Engineering - Material Security

Material Security protects the world's most sensitive data, starting with email. As a Senior Engineering Manager for Email Security, you will lead the team responsible for our flagship product, stopping sophisticated attacks that bypass traditional defenses. You will scale distributed systems, mentor high-performing engineers, and partner with leadership to define the future of email security.

Responsibilities

• Lead and scale a team of high-performing engineers, providing mentorship and career development.
• Own the delivery and execution of the Email Security roadmap, ensuring high velocity without compromising quality or reliability.
• Drive architectural decisions for complex, high-throughput distributed systems and platforms.
• Partner cross-functionally with Product and Security teams to align technical strategy with customer needs.
• Foster a culture of operational excellence, overseeing on-call rotations, incident response, and system health.

What We're Looking For

• Extensive experience as a strong individual contributor in distributed systems or backend infrastructure, with a proven track record of transitioning into successful engineering management.
• Experience managing teams of engineers in a high-scale, high-growth environment.
• Strong product sense and the ability to translate technical constraints into product tradeoffs.
• Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional partners like Product and Security.
• Startup agility: A low-ego, "roll-up-your-sleeves" attitude with the ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-paced settings.
