Open Source Community Advocate - Metabase

Metabase is the easiest way for people to get insights from their data, from tiny startups to major corporations. We bring data tools with the elegance and simplicity of consumer products to the crufty world of enterprise business intelligence, providing an opinionated open-source starting point used by tens of thousands of companies.

We are looking for a customer-focused, technical Open Source Community Advocate to join our growing global team. In this role, you will help and build relationships with our users and customers in public spaces (such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Reddit, and data Slack communities), providing support for both open-source and paid products, including our Discourse forum.

What You'll Do

• Answer user questions on our Discourse forum and help customers on Twitter and other social channels.
• Correspond with users to understand what they are trying to accomplish.
• Collaborate with the writing team and participate in brainstorming sessions on customer content.
• Be the voice of the customer, providing feedback and insights to product and engineering teams.

What We're Looking For

• Enjoy helping people and solving their problems.
• Strong technical background with a minimum of 3-5 years writing production code or administering systems.
• Experience using data visualization or data analytics tools (bonus if you have experience using Metabase).
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Comfortable being the face of Metabase during webinars or in-person events.

Expertise in at Least One Of:

• Running Metabase on a variety of operating systems for multiple years.
• Strong background in networking and how web applications function.
• Managing servers (physical, Docker, or AWS/GCP/etc.).
• Managing databases with strong SQL skills.

Bonus: Fluent in multiple languages to support our worldwide user base.
