Software Engineer (Frontend) - Metabase

What we're looking for

• User Experience Focus: You care about crafting delightful user experiences, writing code to enable people, and understand that details and copy matter.
• React & JavaScript: Prior experience shipping non-trivial apps using React + Redux (or equivalent) with strong JavaScript knowledge.
• Communication & Quality: Experience writing tests, giving good feedback on code, and writing thoughtful proposals. Clear communication is essential for our remote culture.
• Computer Science Fundamentals: Ability to write fast, performant code and handle data structure manipulation regularly.
• CSS & Design Systems: Comfort in CSS and familiarity with design systems and component libraries.
• Large Codebases: Experience working on large and complex JavaScript projects, adapting existing code and integrating new code into established systems.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge and prior experience with data visualization (dc.js, d3.js).
• Previous contributions to open source.
• Pre-existing knowledge or interest in learning Clojure.

The Types of Problems You'd Work On

• Lightning fast interaction with data: Build responsive, delightful ways to filter, view, and interact with custom maps and data tables.
• Augmenting visualizations: Build features allowing annotations directly on specific data points across dashboards and the app.
• Wayfinding: Build new ways to surface important metrics or segments to the right users across Metabase.
• Embedded analytics: Make sure embeds match customer product visuals and enable easier integration.
