Modern Health is a fully remote workforce and requires overlapping hours for team members. US-based team members living outside the Pacific time zone are expected to work at least six hours between 8 am and 5 pm Pacific time each workday.

About the Role

The Engagement Marketing Strategist is a strategic marketing partner to our Client Management organization and a key member of the Member Engagement Marketing team. This role will support Client Managers in driving Modern Health awareness, registration, and meaningful member engagement within client populations.

You will bring together audience strategy, lifecycle marketing, behavioral insight, messaging, and channel planning to turn client and member communication needs into clear, effective recommendations and execution plans. You will help move the organization toward a proactive, measurable engagement strategy—while building repeatable approaches that can scale across clients, populations, and global regions.

This is a highly cross-functional individual contributor role for a marketer who can move comfortably between strategic consultation, campaign planning, campaign execution, and performance learning.

What You'll Do

  • Partner closely with Client Managers to understand client goals, workforce needs, business moments, and member engagement opportunities.
  • Develop client-specific communication strategies and campaigns to measurably improve awareness, activation, ongoing engagement, and re-engagement in line with client priorities and agreements.
  • Equip Client Managers with strategic recommendations, talk tracks, campaign plans, and data-informed points of view to support client-specific goals.
  • Advise on audience segmentation, message sequencing, channel mix, localization, timing, calls to action, and measurement.
  • Support client launches, open enrollment, benefit changes, new-hire moments, relaunches, and other high-impact opportunities to drive awareness and utilization.
  • Develop custom communications and marketing recommendations, balancing client objectives, member needs, operational feasibility, and brand standards.
  • Build and improve repeatable playbooks, toolkits, templates, and frameworks that make high-quality engagement strategy easier to deliver at scale.
  • Use campaign and population data to identify opportunities, recommend tests, evaluate performance, and improve future campaign strategies.

What Success Looks Like

  • Establish trusted partnerships with Client Managers and become a go-to advisor for client and member communications.
  • Create a clear, repeatable approach for developing client-specific engagement strategies.
  • Improve the quality, consistency, and strategic value of recommendations presented to clients.
  • Demonstrate measurable progress against agreed-upon engagement outcomes and use learnings to inform future recommendations.
  • Help the Member Engagement Marketing team operate more proactively and strategically, with less reliance on one-off, reactive support.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience in lifecycle marketing, customer marketing, member engagement, client strategy, integrated marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience developing communication or engagement strategies for multiple audiences, customers, clients, or market segments.
  • Experience planning and executing multi-touch, multi-channel campaigns and understanding how audience, message, timing, and channel work together.
  • Strong strategic consulting skills, with the ability to understand a business need, identify the underlying opportunity, and recommend a focused path forward.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make complex ideas clear and persuasive for both internal and external audiences.
  • Comfort using data and performance insights to make recommendations, prioritize opportunities, and improve campaign effectiveness.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple clients, priorities, and stakeholders in a fast-moving environment.
  • Proven ability to influence without authority and build alignment across cross-functional teams.
  • A member- or customer-centered mindset and a high bar for clarity, relevance, and inclusive communication.
  • Must be able to maintain US work authorization without current or future employer sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, benefits, employee engagement, SaaS, or another complex, high-consideration product or service.
  • Experience supporting enterprise clients or partnering with account, client success, customer success, or sales teams.
  • Experience with lifecycle marketing platforms, CRM or marketing automation tools, campaign analytics, experimentation, or audience segmentation.
  • Experience developing scalable playbooks, enablement materials, or communication frameworks.
  • Experience working across global audiences, languages, regions, or culturally diverse populations.
