Software Engineer III, Cloud Infrastructure - MyFitnessPal

At MyFitnessPal, we believe good health starts with what you eat. We provide tools, resources, and support to enable users to reach their health goals.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the MyFitnessPal Infrastructure team. As a member of the MyFitnessPal Infrastructure team, you’ll have the opportunity to positively impact MyFitnessPal users through your expertise in the cloud infrastructure that drives the foundation of the MyFitnessPal ecosystem. Beyond technical expertise, your teammates value collaboration, mentorship, and inclusive environments.

About the Team

The Infrastructure team is responsible for architecting and operating the cloud and edge platforms that power all of our production and internal services. We are looking to evolve the team’s capabilities through opinionated infrastructure, developer self-service capabilities, and a strong bias toward automation over manual operations.

The Infrastructure team is part of the Technology Operations (TechOps) organization, which includes IT, Infrastructure, Security, Reliability, and DevOps/DevEx disciplines. TechOps enables MyFitnessPal to “ship with confidence” by delivering a secure, reliable, low-friction runway to build and operate software at scale.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Work on major technical initiatives, researching and guiding the implementation of high-quality technical solutions that improve MyFitnessPal’s developer and user experience.
  • Build and maintain an efficient, resilient, and secure production cloud and container-based infrastructure that is critical for providing the best user experiences.
  • Evaluate and improve existing systems through automation and efficient architectural design.
  • Collaborate with your immediate teammates and other engineering teams to identify and implement requirements for building an amazing developer experience that allows quick, autonomous, and secure delivery of production changes.
  • Build quality codebases by engaging in code reviews as a mentor and peer and support resolution of production infrastructure issues across the entire MyFitnessPal stack.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience as a software or cloud infrastructure engineer.
  • Extensive experience with Linux/Unix-based systems and cloud-native infrastructure on AWS using Docker and Kubernetes (e.g., EC2, EKS, S3, etc.).
  • Expertise in public cloud-based networking and security (e.g., AWS VPC & Security Groups, Cloudflare, etc.).
  • Extensive experience investigating and resolving technical problems, especially in the context of incident response, using cloud observability solutions (e.g., Datadog, New Relic, etc.).
  • Experience designing and applying automated testing and tooling to reduce maintenance overhead and operational toil.
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing complex infrastructure and application migrations in production environments.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with IaC tools (Terraform is a plus) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions is a plus).
  • Familiarity with IAM and security policy management.
  • Familiarity with data stores (e.g., MySQL, Redis, DynamoDB).

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS or equivalent cloud solutions architect certifications.
  • Experience with creating agentic agents to minimize operational toil.
  • Experience with platform engineering and building self-service developer platforms.

Core Values

  • Be Kind and Care — Build with empathy; assume positive intent; support teammates and members.
  • Live Good Health — Champion healthy habits and balance in how we work and what we ship.
  • Be Data-Inspired — Ground decisions in research and data; measure what matters.
  • Champion Change — Lean into ambiguity; iterate, learn, and improve continuously.
  • Leave it Better than You Found It — Raise quality, clarify systems, and document as you go.
  • Make It Happen — Bias to action; deliver impact with craft and accountability.
