This position represents an intentional step toward expanding team capabilities in modern data engineering, lakehouse architecture, and agentic AI.
In this role, you will help build and enhance the enterprise lakehouse, curate the semantic layer needed to make AI-driven analytics reliable, and partner closely with Product Engineering, FP&A, and other cross-functional teams. - Build automated validation processes for agent-generated queries and pilot agentic automation for data quality workflows.
- Curate and maintain the semantic layer to ground AI agents and reduce ambiguous or incorrect responses.
- Catalog and steward enterprise data assets supporting internal analytics, FP&A, and product engineering.
- Partner proactively with Product Engineering, FP&A, and other stakeholders to understand and shape data requirements.
- Troubleshoot performance issues and support SQL Server and Azure SQL environments.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers on data engineering best practices and architectural patterns.
- Ensure compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity laws, HIPAA, ERISA, and data protection standards.
Requirements
- 7+ years of production experience in data engineering roles building scalable data pipelines.
- Advanced proficiency with Python and PySpark / Apache Spark in production environments.
- Hands-on production experience with Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, or comparable modern data platforms.
- Proven experience implementing lakehouse architectures using Delta Lake, Parquet, or equivalent technologies.
- Experience designing AI-ready schemas, semantic layers, or metadata structures for downstream AI/ML query patterns.
- Experience with agentic or automation-driven data quality workflows.
- Strong stakeholder partnership skills with product, analytics, finance, or business teams.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud concepts (PaaS, IaaS, Azure SQL, hybrid models).
- Track record of mentoring junior and mid-level engineers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Production experience with Azure SQL, SQL Server, or Azure SQL Managed Instance.
- Proficiency with T-SQL and PowerShell for operational support and automation.
- Infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates).
- Familiarity with streaming architectures (Azure Event Hubs, Apache Kafka).
