Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Operational Analytics & Reporting, this role leverages advanced analytics to measure the success of insurance product countrywide programs while serving as a senior technical resource across the analytics team for complex business function analysis and ad hoc projects.
As a subject matter expert in data visualization, robust reporting, and analytical deep dives, this role will play a key part in:
- Translating complex data into actionable insights through advanced data visualization and intuitive dashboards leveraging efficient data aggregation.
- Understanding the expected changes and corresponding impacts of various insurance product initiatives.
- Conducting analytical deep dives to uncover root causes, inform the setup of analytical frameworks, and enable stakeholders to quickly grasp results and market trends.
- Proactively identifying systemic process and data gaps across the insurance lifecycle, moving beyond surface-level fixes to define the root cause of operational friction.
- Identifying opportunities to enhance both new initiatives and existing programs.
This role will also evaluate the ongoing health of metrics for the current book of business, develop performance reports, and raise key drivers of new trends. While starting with no direct reports, the role is expected to grow into people management of one to two individual contributors and serve as a technical leader across the analytics team from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a connective bridge with the Insurance Product organization, linking technical analysis details to broader operational and financial analytics.
- Collaborate closely with the Insurance Product team to align on analytical requirements and measures of success for new and ongoing initiatives.
- Partner with Sales & Marketing, Claims, and Service analytics teams as the advanced-analytics resource for complex, specialized projects.
- Architect end-to-end analytical frameworks and monitoring tools for multi-faceted business issues, including developing and refining predictive models where appropriate.
- Independently analyze current countrywide programs to quantify success and identify future growth and profitability opportunities.
- Proactively identify systemic process and data gaps across the insurance lifecycle, mapping out ripple effects and trade-offs of proposed solutions.
- Conduct competitor research using various tools to stay ahead of industry results and trends.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance across the analytics team, using storytelling and influencing skills to shape business decisions.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in insurance products, preferably personal lines property and/or auto insurance.
- Advanced analytical thinking and comfort evaluating countrywide insurance product programs against targets.
- Expert-level mastery of SQL.
- Experience building and refining predictive models in Python or R.
- Demonstrated track record of identifying structural process gaps, proposing solutions, and influencing business decisions.
- Experience gathering requirements and building dashboards using PowerBI, Tableau, or LookerStudio.
- Ability to conduct cost-benefit analyses to inform strategic decisions.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with high autonomy on complex initiatives.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to build rapport and collaborate with stakeholders across all levels.
- Work Authorization: Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis (visa sponsorship is not available).
- Preferred: CPCU or equivalent insurance designation and/or passed actuarial exams.
