At Openly, our Territory Managers (internally known as our Agency Success Managers) serve as the engine driving our distribution strategy. In this high-impact position, you will be key to unlocking sustainable premium expansion while delivering exceptional experiences to our agency partners. You will champion our agency relationships, accelerate platform adoption, and help independent agencies thrive for the long run.
Location Requirement: Must reside in the assigned territory (MA/CT). Preferred areas include metro Boston or anywhere in CT. Must have the ability and willingness to travel up to 60% within the assigned geographic territory, primarily consisting of day trips with occasional overnight travel.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Agency Growth & Territory Engagement
- Elevate agency partnerships through structured in-person field visits and virtual touchpoints that drive production and mutual success.
- Formulate and execute tailored territory engagement plans that elevate quoting activity, increase binding ratios, and foster profitable premium growth.
- Identify and evaluate prospective high-caliber independent agency partners, connecting them with our appointment team for network expansion.
Partner Enablement & Practice Development
- Arm appointed agency teams with state-of-the-art tools, product training, and collateral to maximize their production with Openly.
- Collaborate directly with agency principals and leaders to design customized sales and co-marketing strategies aligned with their commercial goals.
Portfolio Retention & Risk Health
- Actively monitor book performance metrics, renewal patterns, and key loss drivers to preserve portfolio profitability and stability.
- Serve as the principal internal advocate for your agency network, collaborating with Underwriting, Product, and Service operations to resolve complex inquiries.
Data-Driven Territory Operations
- Analyze pipeline data and production trends to pinpoint growth opportunities, forecast outcomes, and address emerging risks.
- Channel actionable market dynamics and competitive intelligence back to product and strategy leaders.
- Maintain accurate records of field engagement, agent interactions, and account management activity within Salesforce.
Requirements
- 3+ years in account management or sales roles with a consistent track record of exceeding performance targets.
- 2+ years of direct experience within the property and casualty (P&C) carrier or independent agency channels.
- Active Property & Casualty (P&C) license, or the commitment to successfully complete licensing within 90 days of employment.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 60% within the assigned geographic territory, primarily consisting of day trips with occasional overnight travel.

- Consultative Approach: A consultative mindset centered on building trust, delivering business value, and nurturing agency partnerships.
- Product Communication: Technical capability to master nuanced insurance products and convey complex features clearly to agency leaders.
- Technical Aptitude: Experience utilizing modern workflow tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite) alongside hands-on CRM software experience (Salesforce strongly preferred).
- Territory Network: Established agent and key market contacts within the assigned territory are highly preferred.
