About Osano
Osano is an innovative B-Corporation built around a simple belief: privacy is a fundamental right. Since day one, weβve been focused on giving modern enterprises the ability to innovate quickly, stay competitive, and earn customer trust by respecting data privacy and complying with consent guidelines. Our products help organizations operate confidently in a rapidly evolving regulatory and technological landscape.
Note: This role may require in-person interview/s in Austin, Texas.
About The Role
We're looking for a product-minded Senior Software Engineer to own meaningful parts of the Osano platform end to end, from shaping a problem with Product to running the result in production.
This role is for an engineer who treats AI tooling as a real force multiplier. You use coding agents and AI-assisted workflows to explore unfamiliar code faster, ship more, and remove repetitive work. You also have the judgment to verify everything that goes out under your name. We want someone whose impact goes beyond what they write by hand, and who helps the engineers around them do the same.
You'll work across our React front end, Node.js services, PostgreSQL data stores, and AWS infrastructure, partnering closely with Product, Design, QA, and Security.
What You'll Do
- Build and ship product, end to end: Lead multi-sprint projects from design through rollout. Turn loosely defined problems into actionable plans, break down tasks, design resilient systems, and author clear technical design docs and decision records.
- Partner with Product: Propose MVP cuts, phasing, and tradeoffs, measuring whether delivered solutions achieve intended customer outcomes.
- Engineer with AI to multiply your impact: Utilize AI coding agents and assistants across the development lifecycle (exploring codebases, scaffolding, testing, debugging, refactoring, and code review) while maintaining strict accountability and privacy compliance.
- Automate repetitive engineering: Build scripts, agent workflows, and automated checks that improve team velocity.
- Own production systems: Build observability, feature flags, and rollback paths. Participate in triage and on-call rotations, lead incident response, and manage postmortem follow-ups.
- Build with privacy and security by design: Apply data minimization, residency, retention, and access controls to systems handling sensitive data.
- Raise the bar and mentor: Deliver thorough code and design reviews, mentor junior engineers, and participate in technical hiring.
Requirements
- Typically 5+ years of experience building and shipping production software.
- Proven track record of leading multi-sprint projects from design to production in a team setting.
- Strong expertise in JavaScript/Node.js and React.
- Solid experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
- Strong system design fundamentals: data modeling, API design, and trade-off evaluation.
- Experience owning production systems (on-call, incident response, observability).
- Hands-on, day-to-day use of AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) with concrete verification practices.
- Experience mentoring other engineers and strong written communication skills in an async environment.
- Must be based in and authorized to work in the United States.
Nice-to-Haves
- AWS experience (ECS/Fargate, Lambda, S3, RDS), particularly multi-region or data-residency architectures.
- Experience in privacy, security, or compliance-sensitive B2B SaaS (GDPR, CCPA, SOC 2).
- Experience building AI-powered automations, agent workflows, or LLM-based product features.
- Familiarity with data and analytics tooling (Redshift, Athena) or event-driven architectures.
- Modern CI/CD practices, ephemeral environments, and end-to-end testing (Cypress).
How We Work
- Fully remote, with at least four hours of overlap each day with your team's core hours.
- Collaborative and video-on for meetings; async-first for everything else.
- Regular 1:1 check-ins focused on professional development and career growth.
