About the Role
Prefect is looking for a Director of Product to serve as our first dedicated product leader. In this role, you will bridge the gap across our portfolio—including Prefect, Dagster, and FastMCP—ensuring product cohesion and strategic alignment within our engineering-led organization.
What You'll Do
- Product Cohesion: Define how our portfolio products fit together, manage overlaps, and drive the long-term vision.
- Discovery Practice: Establish standards for user research, customer signal analysis, and problem validation. Coach engineers to conduct effective discovery.
- Product Coaching: Raise the bar for product judgment across the engineering team, helping them frame problems, weigh evidence, and prioritize effectively.
- Success Metrics: Design systems to measure the success of shipped features and ensure post-launch validation informs future development.
Qualifications
- 10+ years in product management with leadership experience owning multi-team roadmaps.
- Proven ability to drive prioritization and influence outcomes in engineering-led, startup environments without direct authority.
- Experience synthesizing multi-product portfolios or managing platform/product tension.
- Deep familiarity with the modern data stack, orchestration, or developer tools. Bonus for experience with agentic systems or MCP.
- A track record of mentoring others and improving product culture.
